I’m going to first start off by saying thank you for everyone that participated in the poll. I greatly appreciate the honest opinions and those who sent me their answers since you didn’t have Twitter.

I wasn’t shocked by the result. As an artist and writer, I get hate from the LS side the most, actually the only ship side of the fandom really.

However, the main point of this poll was to point out the overall problem of ship hate.

People of all ship sides in the fandom need to chill. No one ship is superior over another. Fans need to get better at respecting others with their ship taste, whether you like the ship or not. It’s not difficult to show respect.

Not every LS shipper is toxic, a lot of fans know that, but unfortunately that’s where I personally see the hate come from the most. I’m a multi shipper, but even I can offer respect to others even if I’m not a fan of the ship. The ship hating has got to get under control. If you can’t stay in your lane, then kindly shut your mouth and move on. It’s honestly not that difficult.

To all toxic shippers, just keep in mind, if you see artist and writers do more of a ship you despise, it’s because we’re spiting you. We honestly don’t care about your preferences of ship and if you mention your opinion of hating a ship, we’re gonna make sure we create more of it.

I love adrinette, but the toxic side of the LS has ruined the ship for me. It makes it hard to write any LS fics, and this is also coming from others in the fandom I’ve spoken too who are well know in this fandom. The toxicity makes it difficult to produce art and fics. So, again, we got to get better with the ship hate. I know it won’t disappear, but it would be nice if it was back to calmer waters like it was back when the fandom first started.

As a solid Love Square fan and a non-multishipper, I completely agree on this post. LS has the most immature and salty fans in the fandom, and majority of them have attacked either Astruc, Winny or Zag online. I even encountered some of them myself lmao

Except for the poll that Adrigami fans are more toxic than Lukanette 'coz that ship is the most bullied ship in ML fandom & never once I got any bad encounters with their fans. Or maybe because I have few Kagami x Other Character pieces? Lukanette fans, on the other hand, has spammed almost all of my Chloluka and Luka x Other Characters pieces in IG like he's untouchable except with Mari. They recently infiltrated my old LS posts and make an issue about their ship even tho it's not about them

And just like what OP said, spite can be a biggest motivator for content creators. Not everyone wants content validation. Some of them are just sadists who wants to see the fandom burn

I don't think they're officially together (Nino would react differently if they were) but the way Kagami kissed Adrien looks too intimate enough to be considered friendly

They are not in a relationship, just testing waterns nothing official. It was weird that Nino didn’t mention it tho, like yeah he is single but Kagami means something to him

Either Adrien didn't tell Nino about what transpired between him and Kagami in S3 Finale (which is way impossible coz Nino was there at the end scene when the two shared an ice cream, plus Nino knows personal things about Adrien first e.g. shitty father before everyone does) OR Adrien told Nino that Kagami is no more than a friend to him with no romantic attachment.

Which explains to me why Nino was on board with shipping Adrinette.

Coz if Adrien really considered Kagami, or say they're "testing the waters" if they would work, shouldn't Nino mention it to Alya first being a good bff he is and respect his bro's decision?

None of which makes any sense. Gabriel is the main villain, of course his story ties into his abuse of Adrien. Adrien Agreste who happens to be a main character (despite the issues with his writing). Also, it’s been less than a year since his mother basically died.

So, no, progressing the villain’s storyline isn’t progressing Adrien’s storyline. Especially not when Gabriel all but ignores Adrien when going on his little monologues.

Why is it Adrien’s fault Marinette isn’t written the way they want her to be? Isn’t that the type of attitude they accuse Adrien of?

Adrien is still being emotionally abused and neglected by his father. That hasn’t changed and it’s only gotten worse as the series continues. That kind of emotional scarring isn’t something that just “goes away” just because Adrien can sometimes talk to kids his own age. Asking him to “get over it” is the same as invalidating his trauma.

So, if a child being abused by his parent doesn’t make you feel enough sympathy for the character to at least blame the writing instead of the victim? Then the problem isn’t the writing, it’s that you have no respect for an emotional abuse victim.

Some Chloe appreciation for this episode

It really got to me how much she sobered, how soft her voice got. I loved seeing Chloe express some real, honest-to-God empathy and I understand their friendship a little bit better now. She must have been the only one there for him when Emilie disappeared. I’ll bet this gentleness is a side only Adrien has ever seen.

It bothers me because this episode was near the finale and just… it’s like multiple different people with different plans wrote random episodes and threw them together without looking over each other’s scripts…

There are at least 4 different writers who worked on S2 and S3 (see wikia for their names and the episodes that they worked on) aside from Astruc, and I'm pretty sure they just write each eps without any discussions - just like how Zag is writing the movie and the musical scripts without consulting the people who are working on the TV series.

After all, we have Bunnyx timetraveling shenanigans and alternate timelines to explain the inconsistencies right?

something i can never understand is when a story tries to set up a love triangle but it’s done like this;

Guy A is: the guy you and the marketing team know is endgame, has friendships with the other characters, has a storyline outside of their love interest, has an existing flaw that prevents them from and the main character to be romantically involved, has room for development

while Guy B is: the guy you and the marketing team know is The Other Man, revolves around the main character, has no personal storyline, is seemingly perfect for the main character and doesn’t have any place for improvement

i like luka, but unlike kagami, i’m not given a reason to root for him or even be mildly interested in him as a character or potential love interest. much like others have already said, i wish the writers had written this guy to be more than... just one note

no hate on Luka tho, but writers need to give this guy a storyline too aside from his eyelashes

No offense to Lukanette stans but I really wish Luka has a better backstory that I can empathize with. Poor guy he was nothing but a side guy for Marinette, and a potential practice boyfriend to prepare her for Adrien.

I also don’t like the idea of making someone engage into a romantic relationship to have a character growth.

Lol, so like 99.99% of my comments are positive on MDCSP, but occasionally I get that .01% that has just HAD it. XD I'm like 98% certain this person just read the summary and then went off so it's kind of hard to take criticism from someone who hasn't even read it. I actually had to move both my kids out of a school with an intensive bullying issue. My son ended up borderline depressed for a year (even with therapy) and had to be assessed for PTSD.  He’s not sure how to make or keep friends and he doesn’t trust authority figures. My daughter has a record of retaliating and has learned to not trust her peers or her teachers. And while her therapist and new teacher has worked hard on this, she doesn’t understand how friendship works. 

Both kids have grown a lot in the last year. But what they put up with damaged their social skills and trust in others, and so far, it’s not looking like that’s ever going away.

The whole idea that its never okay to leave a toxic situation is both baffling and a toxic ideology in itself.

I can't believe some fans would really do this for a fictional story, much more on a fanfiction 😑

While I don't like most of Chameleon and Oblivio salt fics/fix-it fics which is one of the main reason why I don't visit AO3 anymore, I'd rather skip them and move on. You'll never survive in any fandom if you're going to make everyone obey your rules.
