I’m going to first start off by saying thank you for everyone that participated in the poll. I greatly appreciate the honest opinions and those who sent me their answers since you didn’t have Twitter.
I wasn’t shocked by the result. As an artist and writer, I get hate from the LS side the most, actually the only ship side of the fandom really.
However, the main point of this poll was to point out the overall problem of ship hate.
People of all ship sides in the fandom need to chill. No one ship is superior over another. Fans need to get better at respecting others with their ship taste, whether you like the ship or not. It’s not difficult to show respect.
Not every LS shipper is toxic, a lot of fans know that, but unfortunately that’s where I personally see the hate come from the most. I’m a multi shipper, but even I can offer respect to others even if I’m not a fan of the ship. The ship hating has got to get under control. If you can’t stay in your lane, then kindly shut your mouth and move on. It’s honestly not that difficult.
To all toxic shippers, just keep in mind, if you see artist and writers do more of a ship you despise, it’s because we’re spiting you. We honestly don’t care about your preferences of ship and if you mention your opinion of hating a ship, we’re gonna make sure we create more of it.
I love adrinette, but the toxic side of the LS has ruined the ship for me. It makes it hard to write any LS fics, and this is also coming from others in the fandom I’ve spoken too who are well know in this fandom. The toxicity makes it difficult to produce art and fics. So, again, we got to get better with the ship hate. I know it won’t disappear, but it would be nice if it was back to calmer waters like it was back when the fandom first started.
As a solid Love Square fan and a non-multishipper, I completely agree on this post. LS has the most immature and salty fans in the fandom, and majority of them have attacked either Astruc, Winny or Zag online. I even encountered some of them myself lmao
Except for the poll that Adrigami fans are more toxic than Lukanette 'coz that ship is the most bullied ship in ML fandom & never once I got any bad encounters with their fans. Or maybe because I have few Kagami x Other Character pieces? Lukanette fans, on the other hand, has spammed almost all of my Chloluka and Luka x Other Characters pieces in IG like he's untouchable except with Mari. They recently infiltrated my old LS posts and make an issue about their ship even tho it's not about them
And just like what OP said, spite can be a biggest motivator for content creators. Not everyone wants content validation. Some of them are just sadists who wants to see the fandom burn
