The annual ten team tag team gauntlet will return on Night 3 of King of Trios weekend! Only the final team leaves the match with points, while the other nine leave empty handed.

The first two teams announced are both former Campeones de Parejas. Los Ice Creams won the 2017 gauntlet, making themselves the first ever team that entered the Gauntlet as Campeones to block future challengers. The Closers of Rick Roland and Sloan Caprice will compete as a team for the first time in Season 20, and on their own with no “boss” in the pursuit of collecting enough points to challenge for the Campeones de Parejas a second time.

By nature of winning “La Lotería Letal” last month, Princess KimberLee & The Whisper have earned a Campeonatos de Parejas opportunity and will be cashing in on December 8th. The Whisper originally appeared in Season 17, holding a secret over Princess KimberLee’s head, manipulating her under threat of revealing her secret to the CHIKARMY. The weight of this threat became too much for KimberLee to bear and she quit CHIKARA altogether. She would return this past April, but the Whisper has not forgotten, reminding her of that very threat before their first round match of “La Lotería Letal” as seen here. It could be more than the tag team titles hanging in the balance - Princess KimberLee’s secret could be in jeopardy if she fails to win the titles for herself and her oppressor. Can this team get the job done, or will the Regime be successful in their fourth overall title defense?

The Beast Warriors will cash in their three points on October 13th against The Regime in the hopes of becoming the new Campeonatos de Parejas! Common enemies united Oleg and Boar in the early part of 2018, and thus far the pair has been quite successful. En route to this title match they’ve defeated two pairs of former Campeones de Parejas, and even defeated The Regime in non-title action back at “Aniversario.” Many fans think the Beast Warriors are destined for gold next Saturday, but Sloan Caprice and Rick Roland say otherwise.

The first match for the July 28th “Egg Monsters From Mars” event is an Atomicos featuring four teams in interwoven issues. It seems as if Crummels and Defarge has made a quiet switch to the Tecnicos side of the equation of late, and we’ll see if Oleg and Boar accept them into the fold.

On May 26th, at the Wrestle Factory, both Oleg and I have earned the opportunity to face the current Campeones de Parejas, Sloan Caprice and Rick Roland. While this bout is scheduled to be a non-title contest, the Beast Warriors are prepared to make the most of this opportunity against the reigning champs.

While the Beast Warriors have been impressive, our success has not come without failure. If Oleg and I would have won the 4-Corner Tag Match at the Infinite Gauntlet, our match with The Closers could be for those two shiny belts. Instead, The Beast Warriors were outnumbered by three other tag teams with more experience, three tag teams who came together to use their numbers to their advantage, three tag teams who proved on that day that Oleg and I are not yet better than the six of them united. As we brew in the frustration of losing a match with such heavy implications, the Beast Warriors are choosing the path of higher recovery. We learn from our inexperience and from our mistakes in previous challenges. As powerful and determined as we are, we are still a relatively new tag team.

At Aniversario, a new challenge awaits. A new challenge, not just for the Beast Warriors, but for The Closers as well. To this point, The Closers have been able to power their way through all of CHIKARA. The Closers have been able to defeat teams that are quicker than them. The Closers have been able to defeat teams with more experience as a unit. However, The Closers have never been challenged by a team that is just as large and powerful as they are.

On May 26th at the Wrestle Factory, a new challenge awaits The Closers. At Aniversario, the Beast Warriors will match The Closers in every physical metric. At Aniversario, the Beast Warriors will push the champions past their limits. At Aniversario, the Beast Warriors cannot leave the Wrestle Factory with the titles...but we will leave with the experience, intellect, and most importantly, a win over the men who call themselves Campeones.

This past Saturday, it was revealed that Juan Francisco de Coronado was the new boss of the Closers. It was also announced that Juan and the Closers will enter this year’s King of Trios tournament. As of now, they would be a “golden trio” heading into the tournament, with Juan holding the Grand Championship (as he did during last year’s tournament) and The Closers as the current Campeonatos de Parejas. Time will tell if they remain a Golden trio come Labor Day weekend, but they’re certainly a force to be reckoned with. Will Juan’s fourth time in King of Trios yield a victory? Will The Closers make up for being left out of the tournament in 2016 thanks to their old boss not being able to compete?
