Man vs Monster [No One's First, and You're Next]
N_R_G celebrated their one year anniversary in CHIKARA by defeating the Devastation Corporation in Norfolk, VA to become Los Campeonatos de Parejas on September 27th, 2015. With 3 successful defenses under their proverbial belts, they held those titles for a total of 300 days, the fifth longest reign out of the seventeen different title reigns in CHIKARA history.
Their reign came to an end two weekends ago in Toronto when Los Ice Creams, who had a Golden Opportunity due to winning the Challenge of the Immortals with Princess Kimberlee and Jervis Cottonbelly, cashed in that opportunity on N_R_G after they lost a hard fought battle with Moustache Mountain. Los Ice Creams scored a fall on N_R_G and were declared Los Campeonatos de Parejas. As quickly as the fanfare for Los Ice Creams title win started, it came to a close. All Campeonatos de Parejas matches are 2 out of 3 Falls, and thus a second fall should have been prompted after the first fall was concluded. Perhaps he had a lapse in judgment, or was caught up in the moment, but the official declared the match over in one fall. Director of Fun Mike Quackenbush was quick to address the situation and declared Los Campeonatos de Parejas vacant, for the first time ever in the titles history.
On August 21st in Philadelphia, CHIKARA’s first Network Special, a proper Campeones de Parejas match between N_R_G and Los Ice Creams will take place. Can Los Ice Creams get the job done, or will N_R_G reclaim the belts?

When CHIKARA rolled into Toronto, the fans expected a singles match between the former Hornswoggle and Juan Francisco de Coronado. However, during the matinee show, Hornswoggle debuted a tag team consisting of Sloan Caprice and Rick Roland (the former Mike Verna and Rex Lawless). This led to a trios match between Hornswoggle’s crew and The United Nations, in which Team Big Deal won! Coronado claims he was unprepared, and with confidence in his team to win again, a challange was laid out from Hornswoggle for a rematch on August 21st when CHIKARA presents its first Network special. Will Hornswoggle be triumphant again, or will Coronado prove the original victory Team Big Deal accrued was truly a fluke?

Sidney Bakabella brought Oleg the Usurper into the Wrecking Crew during 2013 when they crossed paths in the now defunct Wrestling is Fun! promotion. Bakabella ultimately brought Oleg into CHIKARA as part of the Flood in 2014, where Oleg along with Jaka won the 2014 Tag Team Gauntlet during King of Trios weekend. Oleg remained a member of the Wrecking Crew when the Flood disbanded, but you could always tell he was the black sheep of the group. The Devastation Corporation never took him seriously, even going so far as to trade him away to the Arcane Horde during the Challenge of the Immortals.
The Challenge of the Immortals is when Oleg rose in popularity, quickly becoming a beloved favorite of the CHIKARMY. In that time he also earned a Grand Championship opportunity against Hallowicked. Despite his confidence growing as he became more autonomous and harmonious with his fellow Challenge of the Immortals at the same time, Sidney Bakabella would remind Oleg time and time again he was under his employ, literally shoving Oleg’s contract in his face. King of Trios weekend, Oleg had had enough of Sidney Bakabella and gave him the “Off With His Head” treatment. At the time the CHIKARMY presumed Bakabella was gone for good, but he popped up on commentary in early 2016, and soon after claimed he was returning to CHIKARA with a “monster.” That monster turned out to be Abominous Rex, who debuted in the Infinite Gauntlet in May and came into the match with seemingly one person: exacting revenge for Bakabella. Rex eliminated Oleg from the Gauntlet, costing him another Grand Championship opportunity.
On August 21st during CHIKARA’s first live Network event, Oleg will come face to face with Bakabella’s monster in singles competition. It’s not often Oleg is the underdog or undersized in a match, but he will be when he stands across from Abominous Rex in Philadelphia.

On Sunday, August 21st, CHIKARA will present it’s 1st live network special on CHIKARATopia. The first match signed for the big event is Eddie Kingston vs. Jakob Hammermeier.
When Claudio Castagnoli left CHIKARA in 2011, it seemed as if Eddie Kingston’s issue with the BDK was over. Jakob Hammermeier took over as the leader of the BDK after he took out Ares during King of Trios 2014 weekend, and at the beginning of this year, decided he was going to be the new King of CHIKARA. When Kingston and Jakob were set to square off in February, Jakob had Jaka and Pinkie Sanchez attack Kingston from behind, making the War King easy pickings for Hammermeier when the match officially began. One Worldstar Punch was all it took for Jakob to pin Kingston and proclaim himself the new King of CHIKARA.
Kingston vowed that he would go through the BDK and get his hands on Jakob in the process. Jakob refused to watch as Kingston decimated Sanchez and once again defeated Jaka. Frustrated by Jakob’s refusal to acknowledge his dominance, Kingston continued his beatdown on Jaka, resulting in the match being reversed and Kingston losing all of his points and a shot at the Grand Championship. Even worse, Jakob humiliated him again, this time handcuffing Kingston to the ropes and pummeling him in between verbal jabs about how the War King’s time is up.
Kingston’s temper has been pushed just about as far as it could go and it’s time for Jakob to face the music. What will happen when the Last of a Dying Breed finally gets his chance to put his hands on Jakob, the man who has tortured him for the better part of the past six months?
