It's just me or all the non cops woman from Chicago pd who's has a relationship( personal or not) with a cop is always trying to minimize their jobs...

Like Meredith Olinsky who's always trying to push away Alvin instead of realize that choosing a cop as a husband comes with high prices..

And I am really thinking to put Nina Chapman here, Like c'mom, she spends her day inside a office and think she can pull the cards on Hank Voight job, which proven make them a couple will be a bad storyline decision

It’s not just a cop wife either, it’s a cop spouse. Cause Mouch does the same thing to Trudy I feel like, or at least the whole show Fire does… it makes her seem like some dog cop when really she’s a badass?? And when she’s not the dog cop, she’s a domestic housewife with little more to offer than a kiss and reassurance to her poor hubby like… -_- Bro. Come on.

Antonio is a big example of this, with Laura. How she seemed to just up and divorced him because of his job. Like, I’m sorry, but you married a cop. You had to expect this.

I dunno, it’s just an inevitable thing that cops tend to lose all family/friends/partners somehow. It’s that way in Law and Order: SVU as well (I’m only on season 8 I think so these things may change later). Elliot Stabler’s wife divorces him and takes the kids at one point. Olivia can’t hold a relationship to save her life. Munch has been divorced several times. Fin has an ex wife and kid who essentially hates him. Idk about Cragen but I think he’s a bachelor for some reason. It’s just inevitable in cop shows that either the job is too demanding, too dangerous, or both. 🤷‍♀️

Everyone: We don’t approve of Voight’s methods/background dealings, so we will try to catch him and have him fired/arrested.😑

Voight: ….

Everyone when they’re in trouble: Hey Hank … I need your help.

Voight: Say no more, here’s what we’re going to do.

Exactly! The double standard is terrible… it’s like this with the fans too… Hank Voight brings Justice, even if it’s not the politically “correct” way. Every episode, someone needs help, whether it is a victim or another character or someone else, and Hank helps them whenever he can, however he can, even crossing the line to help people. It’s might not be “politically correct,” but generally it is morally correct or justifiable. He doesn’t conform to societal standards and I like that about him.

He has conformed more in the later seasons and it has made his character dry and old like all those in the ivory tower. Seasons 1-4 were prime. Seasons 5 and 6 were pretty good, especially with Antonio. After season 7, things went horrible and it’s just sad to see such a beautiful, complex character burdened by this world’s “political correctness” just to please one side of the aisle… :/

I tend to hang on to the quote from Season 8 Episode 1 from Hank… “Am I not woke enough for you?! Then get the hell out of my unit!”

Hank was a complex character. Please make him complex again. It has been horrible and dry and I think that’s why the show declined (plus the beloved characters leaving, Antonio, Jay, Erin, Hailey, Alvin, etc…)

Antonio threatening Casey to marry Gabby or to let her go was one of the best scenes.

I love Antonio - the protective brother, the straight cop, the loving father… He is such a great character, grappling with the morality between him and Voight. I am so sad Jon Seda left the show but he is a great actor and will do great things!

Kevin and Kim have the best platonic friendship on the show. Not once have they tried to be romantic with each other but they always have each others backs.

This is my favorite thing about the show and them. Not every boy/girl pairing needs to be romantic (*cough* JAY *cough*). I also really loved when Kim and Antonio were partners, despite Toni’s horrible ending. :/

Chicago PD loves killing of my favorite characters, huh. I'm only 2 seasons in and already 2 characters I loved are dead.

Hah… Haha… Just don’t get attached to too many characters. The tragedy is too real. Some stick around longer than others but… Hah.

I still have brain rot from this over a month later. It lives in my head rent free. I think about it every day. It is my Roman Empire. Every meme I see is then a scenario in this story. Every silly song I hear is the same. I just imagine Kate messing with Voight 24/7 and it’s my favorite thing.

when are they going to have ASA chapman and voight get together??? he needs some happiness

Hank does deserve to be happy - but I don’t think ASA Chapman would be a good fit. He deserves to find someone who won’t go over his head at the drop of a dime. She is not ride or die - she will absolutely destroy him first chance she gets if given the choice.

Hank needs to find someone - perhaps even a civilian - who he can develop a relationship with OUTSIDE OF WORK. His job is his life, I know, but it has been for too long. Six years after Camille died plus another, what, 9-10 years after that? So it’s been 16 years since she died, give or take, and his job is all he has left. Literally.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again - Hank Voight has lost everything and everyone he cares about. A stillborn daughter, his father was killed in the line of duty, his mother is never mentioned so is absent at best or dead at worst, his wife died of cancer and had a crooked doctor too, Justin was murdered, Erin has left him and has not been seen again, Olive then promptly took his grandson Daniel so he can’t see them on a regular basis or at all, Alvin was murdered, Antonio left and hasn’t been heard from again, Jay left and hasn’t been heard from again, Jin was murdered, Jules was murdered, (curse of the “J” names, I guess), Anna Avalos died, Lexi (I think that was her name) the CI died, and if we really take the father/daughter angle of their relationship then he just lost Hailey too!

The only people Hank has left from the OGs are Trudy, Kevin, Kim, and Adam. Of course, none of these would be a love interest, for multiple reasons, but I’d really like to see Hank get a love interest from outside the police force. Since he doesn’t do a lot of dirty stuff anymore and has mellowed out, I’d like to see him come home to a woman who will take care of him and love him for who he is. He has made many past mistakes, but haven’t we all? Nobody deserves it more than Hank Voight. And ASA Chapman just isn’t going to be it for him. She will betray him if it means saving her own job, and I know that’s true, 100%. He needs someone outside of the police force at best (or a sergeant from another district at worst). Either way, he can’t date anyone he directly works with. He just can’t. If he and Chapman get together and settle down long-term, I just… I can’t see it. The whole thing will be ruined if that’s the case. End of story. 🤷‍♀️

If season 12 ends up being the last season, I’d like to see Hank meet someone, and slowly transition the role of Sergeant to someone like Adam, who’s been set up since literally season 1 to take intelligence. If not, then Trudy (but she’s not a good fit for it, simply because she wouldn’t like it as much as Patrol). Adam should be the one to take intelligence if Hank retires, and that is a hill I am willing to absolutely die on.

I don’t ship them, but the one thing that came to mind was S1 E1 when Jules was shot. Antonio, Hank, Erin, all of their reactions. Crazy. Just crazy.

I want to point out that Hank, we expect that kind of reaction out of. Him trying to hurt someone, physically. Erin crying, we can expect that from her. But Antonio? Shoving his hands in Pulpo’s face? Physically wanting to hurt him? It is specifically made a point that Antonio doesn’t vibe with physical harassment/brutality, in both Fire and PD, up till that point (as far as I know - I didn’t watch all of Fire). So, seeing his reaction like that? Crazy. Guttural. Visceral. Insane.
