written for: @doctorroseprompts June prompt: Domestic Life in the TARDIS (yeah, I know, I’m late). I’ve always been intrigued by Rose’s statement to Jack about the Doctor’s shaving habits. Maybe this is how it happened.

“See you in ten seconds’ time, yeah?”

After saying goodbye to her mother and Mickey, Rose closed the door behind her and walked up the ramp toward the time rotor. The Doctor danced around the console flipping switches, pushing buttons, and finally pulling a lever that had the engines groaning. When she could feel the stability of being in the time vortex, Rose picked up her rucksack from the jumpseat and swung it over her shoulder.

“Erm…”

The Doctor looked up at Rose. “Oh! You’ll be wantin’ a room. Remember how to get to the wardrobe?”

Rose scrunched her brow trying to replay in her mind how she’d gotten to the wardrobe room the day before. “I…I think so.”

“First left, second right, third on the left, go straight ahead, under the stairs, past the bins-”

A soft smile appeared on Rose’s face at his exuberant directions. “Yeah. I remember now.”

“Okay, well go passed the wardrobe room and take the very next hallway. All the guest rooms are there. The TARDIS’ll let you know which one’s yours.”

“Thanks!” Rose gave the Doctor a quick hug and took off down the corridor to find her room.

Summary: The Doctor takes Rose to the library and makes a wish come true.

A/N: Sorry for the long wait! Had to fight with real life to make it happen. Beta help again from @sequencefairy but I kept messing with it, so mistakes are mine! If you like visual aids like I do, here’s one for this chapter. ;)

Chapter 1

Previously:

When he withdrew, she inhaled deeply and clawed at his neck to bring him back to her, hearing herself whimper. Another long kiss, tongues tangled. Rose felt a wildness rising up in her and she was considering trying to drag him to the floor when he stopped again and moved kiss down the side of her neck.

“Rose?”

“Yes, Doctor?”

“Come to the library with me?”

Rose was sure the Tardis shortened the hall to the library doors. They ran through and the Doctor swung her around and pressed her to the wall for another full body kiss. One hand plucked the clip from her hair and she heard it bounce across the floor. He pulled back and fluffed out her damp hair and she watched, fascinated, at his look of intense concentration.

He caught her eyes and smiled gently. “Suitably mussed.”

Summary: The Doctor is a perfectionist about certain rituals, and in the aftermath of a rough adventure, Rose gets to see one.

Chapter 2 (note rating change)

They’re covered in soot and holding hands. An alien ship levitates into an alien sky and rockets toward the atmosphere, sonic boom in its wake, chastened, heading for its home galaxy. Harsh words still ring in her ears, and she hesitates before turning to him, not wanting the crush of disappointment. But when she glances over, it takes her breath away. He’s not watching the departing ship. He’s watching her, and she doesn’t have to ask if she’s forgiven. He looks at her like she’s the answer and the question all in one, and she cuts her eyes back up to the ship, not knowing what to do.

Rose couldn’t stop thinking about that look, and it buoyed her as she slipped down a dim Tardis hallway, because she couldn’t fall asleep and she needed to be close to him. The hallway ended in front of a carved insignia on a wooden door. Trust the Tardis to have her back. She knocked and the door swung open under her hand.
