sorry i know someone else has made this post before but. we do Not talk enough abt the fact that the slushie machine is called: the Big O. and here it is….erupting…..fluids (blue! fluids. like grace!) while cas is talking to dean. mmmm

Dean and Sam hunting together: well that’s the show isn’t it? saving people hunting things etc etc. brotherly moments that make you either go awww or want to throw them off a cliff. practically reading each other’s minds on hunts bc they’ve been doing it for so long. terrible communication any other time

Dean and Cas hunting together: hunter husbands. standing 1.5 inches away from each other at all times. constant bickering constant eye sex constant rifling through each other’s pockets oh god they’re so fucking married

Sam and Eileen hunting together: extremely sweet together. heart eyes while discussing lore and/or tactics. pretending not to be worried about each other because they each really want to respect the other person’s independence and hunting skills

Cas and Eileen hunting together: murder besties. taking turns beating the shit out of villains while the other person nods approvingly. roasting their boyfriends during stakeouts. mutual agreement not to tell dean and sam how many people they’ve blackmailed

Dean and Eileen hunting together: sky-high levels of competence. kicking ass left right and center. off-the-charts wittiness. spn would only be 1 season long if it was about these two because they would immediately solve every apocalypse in the most practical way possible and then spend the rest of the season getting drunk together at dive bars.

Sam and Cas hunting together: terrible, terrible idea. the case may get solved but fifty new problems will be created. maximum chaos minimum planning. all ancient curses and alternate dimensions are fair game. cosmic regime changes ARE on the table. 90% chance that one of them ends up in a coma.

I could talk for hours about how unbelievably genius Misha is for the way he played Cas in s4. It set the tone for Cas’s character and it also gave us a visual representation of his progression throughout the series.

Like he plays Cas in s4 in a way that is clearly not human, but clearly different from the other angels, too. And yeah, I know he was first and the other actors came in and just didn’t take his lead, but he committed to it for the long haul and it’s brilliant. Because immediately— immediately we get the sense that Cas is different, that he doesn’t belong. But he doesn’t belong with the angels any more than he belongs with the humans and well, that’s the whole foundation of his character and his arc, isn’t it?

But here he is in s4 with his sort of professional monotone, his messy hair, his squint, and his propriety above all else. And over the seasons we watch him melt little by little. He gets some inflection in his voice, he makes different expressions and micro expressions, his posture relaxes and shifts. He continues to get further from the angels every day, but he gets closer to humanity every day, too. And Misha shows that transition so beautifully and in such minute changes that you sometimes take a few episodes to realize it.

And if he hadn’t played Cas the way he did in s4, the change would not be so obvious or powerful. Not to mention that s4 Cas just is best Cas because he’s fucking weird as hell and it’s so interesting and endearing.

Misha Collins is a brilliant actor in general but s4 Cas and the way his acting literally paved the path for Cas’s entire character arc is just another level of outstanding.

Cas used ‘tight denim shorts’ on Dean! It’s super effective! 

supernatural really was like okay so dean and cas grieve each other like widowers and repeatedly come back from the dead for each other and feel each other’s losses like a missing limb and choose to defy god for each other and coparent two children together and get divorced and go through marriage counseling and reconcile and never get other serious love interests because no one else could ever approach what they mean to each other and cas openly states that he’s in love with dean BUT as long as dean doesn’t say it back out loud in english they’re technically not a couple

What if one evening Dean found 'queering the map' while getting drunk to numb his pain of missing Cas and read some of the stories on there and then the next time missing Cas got unbearable he went back and one by one started adding his own lil snippets to the map, as if he was talking to Cas.
