Work in progress. Playing with Procreate a bit more for funnies. Deep space samurai action! #samurai #dragon #procreate #manga #illustration #art
Here's the picture I drew while watching an art hero of mine, Terada Katsuya, inked. I tried to incorporate a lot of his design motifs while using some of my own imagery. I'm bringing a few of these to Fan Days this weekend, but a limited amount. If anyone's interested let me know. I might adapt this into a T-shirt at some point!
Here's a poster I did for Adventure Games Inc., a gaming store in Canada! Armor is always fun to design :) Merry Christmas everyone!
I'm freaking out. Dragon Slayer did wonderfully overnight, and now it looks like it might hit the $14k stretch goal before the end of the day. I was blown away when it hit the $12k stretch goal, so this is amazing. There are only 15 hours left to back Dragon Slayer, my 136 page original graphic novel I've been working on for almost two years.
You can back for a digital copy at $10, a softcover at $25, a hardcover at $50, or a sketched in hard cover at $60, along with many other reward tiers. Please check it out here, and tell your friends! http://kck.st/1mfJeXe
The Kickstarter for Dragon Slayer: The Collected Edition is live! ( http://kck.st/1mfJeXe , case sensitive.) If you’re hesitant to back an unknown comic artist, I have the first issue up free on the Kickstarter page in honor of Free Comic Book Day.
If you like the art or the story, or just want to support an up and comer, please back and spread the word!

I wasn't going to post this just yet, but heck, it's my birthday and common law states I can post stuff early. Here's my rough draft for the cover to the collected edition of Dragon Slayer, which will be launched via Kickstarter on May 1st. I'll definitely be posting about it here, so keep your eyes peeled.
I've been joking that this is what I spent most of 26 doing, but honestly, that isn't far from the truth. The majority of last year (and a bit of 25) will be contained in this book, so please please please back this project once it's live. I've never taken a risk this big, but to achieve results you have never achieved, you have to do what you've never done, right?
Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes. I swear I've thanked over two or three hundred people today. You guys rock, and serve as an excellent source of motivation!
Without further ado, here's the cover for Dragon Slayer Vol. 3. It matches up nicely with the first two covers:) The Kickstarter for both the third issue and the full colored collected volume will start May 1st, so check back here for more info around then. I've put so much work into this book to make it as great as I possibly can, so keep your eyes peeled for the Kickstarter campaign at the beginning of May. Thank you for helping me make it this far:)
I'm proud to present the cover to issue 3 of Dragon Slayer. I'm working hard on getting the Kickstarter campaign ready for the third and final issue of Dragon Slayer, as well as the collected full color edition. It has been a ton of work, but I'm glad I've been able to finish the project out thanks to everyone who has backed me along the way. The plan is to launch May 1st if I can get everything ready to go. Just keep your eyes peeled here for more info!
Here's another commission I did for Kickstarter. I've got a few more I'll post, then back to the regularly scheduled updates.
Fan Days this weekend was a blast! Thanks to everyone who dropped by! I'm going to be doing commissions this week, so if you're interested, shoot me a message.
If there's any prints you missed at Fan Days, check my Etsy shop out at https://www.etsy.com/shop/cheshirecatart for more prints.

Tumblr friends! Thanks everyone for hanging tight during my constant barrage of advertising this last month. There's only 29 hours left before the Dragon Slayer Vol. 2 Kickstarter ends. If you were waiting until the last minute, that's pretty much tonight or tomorrow. Check the project out, tell your friends, retumbl or just admire the art from afar! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheshirecatart/dragon-slayer-volume-2
@artgantuan drew this awesome pinup for the Flintlock Brandisher tier of Dragon Slayer's Kickstarter. This is the red/gold variation-I'll reblog the original once he posts it up. Below is the process that went into creating the image. It was so cool to see it from pencils to colors!

I've been drooling over Evan's art since I came across one of his sketchbooks in a Half Price Books in Frisco, and I've been studying his stuff ever since. We've since met, and we got talking about the Kickstarter. He graciously offered to draw one of the prints.
I spent most of yesterday just peeking in on Instagram (@artgantuan) watching the process unfold. He drew every major character from Vol. 1! So awesome. If you haven't checked him out, add him on Tumblr and Instagram!
This was a doodle I just started toying with one night while watching Triads: The Inside Story. There were a few mistakes, but I tried to play with it until I was happy with it.
So with everyone speculating about who the 12th incarnation of Doctor Who would be, I had fun and came up with my own: a Japanese youth who travels in a Koban. I imagine him fighting Godzilla sized Kaiju creatures, Gundam-inspired Cybermen, and ancient Japanese ghosts. Even though it futzes with tradition, it'd be cool to have a Japanese Doctor! My first thought for a companion would be a genius little girl who tends to almost outthink the Doctor at every turn.
His catch phrase would be "Ikimashou", which is similar in meaning to "Allons-y"!
Three new pictures up at http://www.cheshirecatart.com/gallery13.html , and a few new blog posts up at the blog. Enjoy!
Here's one of my "shapes practice" pieces, where I just kind of let my hand go. Fun stuff! On another note, Dragon Slayer Vol. 2 is pencil roughed. This is the hardest part of the comic for me, so the guts are all there. I'll be inking it soon, then toning, lettering and designing the book. It's probably a month or two away from release, but I'm well on track.
Here's a character from the upcoming second issue of Dragon Slayer. Issue one is only available for pre-order for four more days before you miss your chance to get a copy. Jump on it! (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheshirecatart/dragon-slayer)
Here is the final preview page for Dragon Slayer. If you're interested in seeing the rest, you can pre-order your copy at Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheshirecatart/dragon-slayer). Everything on the Kickstarter is limited run, signed and numbered, and I'm adding four new pages to every reward tier's comic if we make it to $5000! Also three new pictures up at http://cheshirecatart.com/gallery13.html
