I've wanted to draw a Tekkonkinkreet poster for forever, and after Japan I finally finished one.

Tekkonkinkreet is incredible. From the original manga to the animated film, it's tale of two orphan children who struggle to survive in an ever changing city walks the line between the mundane and the fantastic in such a unique way.

White's optimistic and childish, Black is world weary and realistic, and Takaramachi, the city these kids operate lives and breathes and is so densely populated it's a character of it's own (hats off to Shinji Kimura's backgrounds in the anime adaptation). The story deals beautifully with dualities- cats and rats, old vs. new, youth vs. age, and ultimately black and white. If you haven't had  chance to check out the manga or the film, I highly recommend both. It's introspective yet dynamic, realistic yet expressionistic, simple and yet beautifully complex.

A few weeks back I was commissioned to do a Metal Gear Solid commission with Naked Snake from MGS3 and Old Snake from MGS4. It was fun to break out the inks and go town on this one. I used a G pen Nib and a Winsor & Newton 01. If I didn't already have two MGS prints, I'd color this up and make it into a print!

2013

Wow. New year.  I always try to up my game twice a year: the new year, and my birthday (not that I'm not always trying to up my game).  These are the points in time when I feel like I need to progress the most.  I've got a lot in store for this year, and while I'm a smidge burnt out from last year, I'm going to use this momentum to finish everything in front of me.

Dragonslayer's about halfway through. I need to finish the script, then pencil, ink, tone, and letter the remaining chunk of those pages, in addition to polishing everything up.  I'm also planning on doing a Kickstarter for the publishing costs of issue 1.  More info on that as I work out how I want to approach that.

At the end of every year I go back to the gallery and rearrange it, putting my favorite pictures up top so I can focus on the lessons I learned doing those pictures.  That's not to say anything at the bottom of the page are pictures I don't like, just that the first few rows of pictures are ones I feel I achieved what I was going for.

I went back to all of my .psd files and reduced a good chunk of my pictures this year to just the B&W lineart.  You can view everything at my facebook page.  Below are some of my favorites:
