In Memorial of Laurel Lance

In a cast of characters as large as Arrow’s ensemble, there will always be characters that you connect with more than others. For me, that has always been Oliver, Diggle and Felicity. Those were the characters I fell head-over-heels in love with. What was established as the ‘Original Team Arrow’ was and will always be the core three of the ensemble for me, and who I will always put my heart and soul into first and the most.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t care about other characters, or that my interests stop beyond my core three. In fact, it’s as far from the truth as it can be. There’s an entire range of emotions going on towards all the other characters. I simply like certain characters, I love to hate others, I have special places in my heart for some of them and I’m indifferent towards a rare few. (Extra points if you can guess which is which.)

But today, I’m going to focus on Laurel Lance. Today, I’m paying my respects to a fallen character and, for the first and final time, I’ll give you my thoughts on her character and my feelings towards her and what happened.

I’m starting this with a little bit of a disclaimer: I’m not about “taking sides”. You feel what you feel. What’s more: you’re always allowed to feel whatever you feel. I feel most comfortable swimming in the pool of neutrality, while equally staying true to my own thoughts and feelings. If you think that I failed that in this post, than that’s your right to think so, with the emphasis on “think”. This is sort of a ...spewing of thoughts and emotions, with positives, negatives, criticism and praise all stirred together, like all my metas are. Translation: I’m just writing down what I’m thinking. You are free to agree, disagree, or feel indifferent towards all of this. Equally good friends here, everyone has their own opinions. And, as I seem to say in every single meta I write out: I always try to wave the positivity flag and look for the silver lining.
