i can't share the entire context behind this project but heres my fx for it as well as my initial roughs
yea sure here’s a quick one for you:
Watercolor style is usually characterized by three things: use of white, hard edges, paper grain. Paint Tool SAI has settings for the last two - Fringe for hard edges, Texture for grain (this can also be done with Photoshop with brush textures and a pattern overlay).
When doing trad watercolor what I usually do is lay down a color wash first, wait until it dries, then color the details in. I do the same thing for digital watercolor.
Moro Fighting Kris
- Dated: 19th century
- Geography: Southern Philippines
- Medium: steel, silver, brass, mother of pearl, rattan
- Measurements: overall length 28 inches (71.12cm); blade length 24 inches (60.96cm)
This particular kris features a rare handle style. The wood handle has an octagon shaped pommel with silver bands, brass tacks and is inlayed with mother of pearl. The original rattan binding is intact, and the stirrup is made of silver.
