It is great to have sports back and it was a banner weekend for Chicago’s pro teams. The White Sox swept Kansas City (3-2, 11-5, 9-2), the Cubs swept Pittsburgh (6-3, 4-3, 2-1) and the Blackhawks won their opening game against Edmonton (6-4).
Well, the NHL postseason sure did not go the way I wanted it to go. First my Blackhawks were knocked out in the opening round with a 4-0 sweep at the hands of the Nashville Predators. Then I wanted to see Montreal, or any Canadian team win the Stanley Cup. (In additional to Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and Calgary all made the postseason this year. The last Canadian team to win the cup was Montreal in 1993.) That didn’t pan out, and when it came down to the finals, I decided I would be a Nashville fan. However, experience won out as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Predators 4-2 to win the cup. Congratulations to Pittsburgh. As for the Blackhawks, WAIT’LL NEXT YEAR!
