Dame Maggie Smith played so many great roles but one that I feel is very underrated is her portrayal of Wendy Darling in Hook (1991).

Don't get me wrong, people do know about this performance and they love it. But I think it's a very underrated portrayal of J.M. Barrie's iconic heroine.

In this film, Wendy grew up to become a mother, like in the book, but she also helped hundreds of orphans find families. And as a side-note, I love that she's being honoured by the Great Ormond Street Hospital, which in-real-life holds the copyright to Peter Pan and benefits from royalties of all licensed productions of Peter Pan.

I think Maggie Smith gave a wonderful performance as Wendy. Very kind-hearted and soft-spoken, but with the same maternal strength that Wendy had in the book. Getting to see Wendy not only all grown-up but old was really touching to see.

Also that makeup was incredible.

So, rest in peace, Dame Maggie Smith. Thank you for all of your amazing work, and thank you for being our Granny Wendy.

I feel like the world is pranking me. Is TBS not ginger? I feel like it was more ginger when he was a kid and it’s become more brown as he’s gotten older, but still gingery nonetheless. People were commenting that he would have made a good Peter Pan “if he had been ginger, but that wouldn’t suit him” and all websites say he’s brunette. Is this man not ginger?? Someone tell me before I get my eyes tested

Rereading THG again and I’m always so in awe of how perfect the first chapter is. In the first page and a half, Suzanne perfectly summarises Katniss’s personality and still makes you want to know more. She gives enough to keep you interested, but not too much so that you’re filled with questions you need answers to. She gives so much information in that chapter, but it never feels like it’s being dumped on you. Then there’s that ending that makes you draw in a breath, no matter how many times I have read it. It’s such good writing, brilliant writing. I wish I could write like this.
