Is there another Buffyverse character that you would have wanted to play?  I think the answer for so many people is probably Spike because James was so good. I mean, it was a well written role and he was such a phenomenal actor and so good in it. He was able to bring edge and humour and depth and so much- I loved working with him. And so most people probably say that for a lot of the reasons we just talked about. He was different and crazy and he was like fucking 400 years old or whatever. And he gets to do… like, you get to do the ridiculous every day. So that would be it. But, that said, I didn’t then nor do I now have the capability to play Spike. SMG: I don’t know. I think it broke–my hair. I think it was just in the middle of doing so many things and my hair was literally fried and I think it broke. And I just think no one knew what to do with it. But I also could be totally making that story up right now. I really don’t know. I mean, why would someone do that voluntarily to themselves? You know what makes the LEAST sense about the 'Is Giles the First?' pointless subplot? Not the fact that Anya didn't hug him, like she always does on his return, no. But it's the fact that the first time they spent more than an hour with him and he DID NOT make himself a cup of tea or start eating snacks they should have immediately tied him to a chair and demanded he tell them where the real Giles was. I mean COME ON!!! Weeks/months go by and nobody has seen him eat or drink or touch anything. Stupid. Just the stupidest subplot in the entire series IMO
