gen z has to reckon with its radicalization problem. you are not a morally pure and superior generation of youth come to save the world, your men and boys are radicalized at an unprecedented level and you ignore it because it’s too hard to address but you have to. these boys are in your classes, they date your friends, you know them and you cannot continue to pretend this is an “old white guy” problem

girls are contributing, too. the coquette aesthetic, the “i don’t want to girlboss i want a man to pay my bills”, girlmath girljob girlmoney. it’s a joke, it’s clothes, it’s whatever, i get it but it is driving a mentality of traditional gender roles and you know you’re joking but your boyfriend doesn’t. your kid brother doesn’t. you have to stop this shit it is a contributing factor

Wait, beneath the sea floor?

OUGHGH??

OIUOHGHHVOIH!!!!!

HOLY SHIT

So I looked this up and there's three things I think should be mentioned:

  1. Yes, this is real.
  2. They found this ecosystem in underground hydrothermal caves where the water was 75 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius) and when it says "volcanic fluids" it means that, or where the hot water in the caves comes up through cracks to mix with the colder water above, allowing minerals and nutrients from the volcanic caves to escape and dissolved oxygen from the open ocean to enter.
  3. The robot that tested the hypothesis of life under the seafloor was called SuBastian.

I think part of what people who don’t like sports don’t get about it is the permanence of it, I can say this bc it used to be me lol. You’re a fan of a tv show, it’s a huge part of your life, you’ve met all your friends in that fandom- five years later it ends, your interest wanes bc there’ll never be another episode and you're running out of things to talk about it. You’re a massive fan of a band, ten years later they split up, you still listen to them but they’ll never make new music again, there's no concerts to go to. The youngest player on my team is 17. He’s got probably 15 or so years before he retires and no one who’s on the team right now is still playing football. Players all gone, manager’s gone, full ship of Theseus. The club will still be there. Stadium's still in the same place on the high road, they're still playing every week, local lads are still coming through the academy, the same fans who have been going to games since they were little kids are still there. And in fifty years time it'll still be there. It's not the same as loving something that ends

Everybody says congratulations when you get a new job, or start a business, or buy a house, or have a baby, or get married, or buy a new car...

I just wanted to take a second out of the day to say congratulations to all of you who made it through a hard week this week.

Congratulations to those who are holding it together for the sake of the people you love.

Congratulations to anyone who thought about taking the easy way out and decided to stick around for a while longer.

Congratulations for showing up. Again.

You deserve all the love too.

In time travel movies, when the time traveler asks 'What year is this?!?' they're always treated like they're being weird for asking.

When in reality, if you go 'What year is this?!?' people will just say '2024. Crazy huh.' and you go 'Wtf where has my youth gone.'

And if you ask 'And what month??' people won't judge you, they'll just go like 'SEPTEMBER!!! Can you believe it?!?!' and you go 'WHAT?!? Last time I checked we were in May?!?'

That is a great point. Especially if you time travel to a period of Big Historical Events, when everybody's looking a little wild about the eyes.

"Hey, what month is it?"

"January already, can you believe it? I swear I was just at Pompeii, but no one's going there again."

In the same vein:

Stumbling into a diner and asking "What town is this" isn't weird, the workers will think you're on a road trip

If you ask them "Where's the nearest Nano Deck?" they'll assume it's a shop they've never heard of and say "Sorry, I don't know where any of those are"

Going into a store and telling a cashier "I need pods for my comm device" will just get you a "Never heard of those, maybe try Radio Shack?"

I think the problem is that people who create sci-fi movies have never had to work customer service jobs
