I keep thinking about this: if the Could He/Would He/Should We algorithm is a metaphor for Dennis coming out/being gay, the reactions to it are interesting.

Charlie says, “No way,” to Could He—is this that Charlie doesn’t really think Dennis is gay? Or that he thinks Dennis is too far in denial and repressed to ever admit it out loud?

Dee says, “Nah, cry for help,” to Would He, and this makes me think of “You’re not gay; you’re just really vain,” from the pilot. If Big Mo ends up being someone Mac is interested in and Dennis gets jealous and it pushes him to come out, I can totally see Dee assuming and calling him out on doing it just so Mac doesn’t abandon him.

Mac’s unequivocal, “Yes,” to Should We is just... *chef’s kiss* because Texts shows us that Mac knows, and he also knows the agony of staying closeted, and I think—above and beyond his feelings for Dennis—he just wants him to not have that pain anymore

the episode title is “waiting for big mo,” a character from mac day that causes him to pop a boner, making the gang unanimously agree that mac is gay

“waiting for big mo” is based on a gay play called “waiting for godot”

glenn said that they had “one thing planned this season” and so far nothing major has happened yet with only two episodes left

rob said some people would hate the finale, fully knowing that a bunch of dudebros idolize straight, serial killer dennis

this season has had an increasingly unusual amount of homoerotic subtext between mac and dennis even though they’ve already had plenty in previous seasons

the past three season finales have involved gay mac or macdennis in some form or another

the entirety of ttgr literally EXISTS; “speak from your heart,” “sweep him off his feet,” “pushing your soulmate away, right on structure,” the tggr parallels to later s14 macdennis, “a gay, gay ass love story for the ages that won’t do well in middle america but will get a shitload of attention from the liberal press”; this episode has so much fodder for canon macdennis but you all know the drill by now

both chokes and texts exist as well; you all know what I’m talking about so I won’t force myself into further detail and apply even more clown makeup while I’m at it

this season has involved very interesting character moments especially with dennis (his behavior in tggr, chokes, and phaj) as well as mac strongly reinforcing his religion in the past two eps

dennis did not even attempt to seduce any of the girls in the bar during global warming and half-assedly tried to seduce lisa in tggr, instead choosing to hang out with mac instead

we’ve barely seen any promo for the finale and the ep description is vague af

this season has felt like it’s been building up to something with each episode, especially due to the specific character moments for both mac and dennis
