“Dunno--can I get a whisky?” Harry asked the bartender and they nodded, going to get a glass and the bottle.

Peter sighed as the man handed the glass to Harry then looked over to him, “you?”

“Just the water's fine.” He nodded and left the boys alone again. Harry gave Peter a strange look as he sipped his drink. “Wanna keep a clear head for tonight.” He explained. “I think I’m going to ask her out.”

Peter is use to long nights, but he’s just not doing anything any other person his age would be doing. Most of the time when he tells people he is busy at night, their thoughts go to partying or his friends would think he was doing sort of experiment or something they deemed ‘nerdy’.

It would shock them to know he was out in the city fighting crime.

There were some things holding Peter back though. His job, his friends, Aunt May, and you. Every time he would put the mask on, your face would flash before him. You are the reason he is trying to keep the city safe, but oftentimes he would wonder if it was better to simply keep you only safe. It would be easier this way, not to mention there would be no shocking reason a villain would target you. 

But Uncle Ben’s words haunt him. Ben was an empathetic saint who made sure to pass that behavior down to his nephew, but he also would never have wanted Peter to see the crime and danger that he does know. It was like two little Peter’s on his shoulders, one saying to help the city and that's it selfish if he doesn’t, but the other would say that Peter keeping his loved one close was enough, he didn’t owe the city anything. 

But young fifteen year old Peter made the decision that the now Peter still follows: taking up the title of spiderman, and saving the city of New York.

Peter has never been known to remember things. You’d joke that with his big brain things would get lost so easily in there. He needed reminders and alarms to be set up so he could remember all of the homework, missions and most importantly your dates. His calendar was booked to the brim just so he wouldn’t hyperfocus onto one thing for too long—the hyperfocus mainly being trying to find the most perfect date—and so he knew what was coming up; because with a job with too many surprises, he liked feeling in control.

But all of that planning, all of the mess that was his brain, all of his forgetfulness; it was never enough for him to forget your scream.

The team was out for a mission—a supposed easy one at that—and it was all going well until about five minutes in where it turned out to be an ambush. Some SHIELD member double crossed everyone, and now you're paying for it.

It all happened so fast, the gun-shots, the yelling, and explosions; all too much to focus on one thing, all too much for a person to handle. Yet somehow, you pulled through, not letting that Avengers training go to waste. Grabbing Peter and pushing him out of the way from the roof falling apart, separating the two of you between a wall of rubble.

You sat down with a heavy sigh on the table in front of him, putting your backpack down in the seat next to you before taking out a couple of worksheets and a pen. You began to write carefully, your eyebrows furrowed in concentration as ink began to flow onto the paper. You were so focused on your work that you didn't notice the slight admiration in Peter’s eyes while attempting to hide himself with the book in front of him.

Peter bounced his legs against the floor of the small classroom as he waited for the teacher to hand back the quiz. He needed to get an A on this quiz, he had to. He glared over to you behind him in the back of the classroom, looking almost as anxious as he did while you were talking to your friend in the desk next to you. Why the fuck did it have to be so fucking hot.

Twisting and turning in yours and Peter’s bed, trying to find the perfect match between comfy and not completely cooking between the sheets. But it was no use. As much as you loved the summer, with no classes and being able to do summer time, couple things with Peter like picnics and taking walks in the parks, hot weather could be a bitch.

It was late into the night, or early into the morning, and you were beyond tired. All you wanted to do was rest and not have to deal with the heat. You honestly didn’t even bother checking the temperature, knowing full well that seeing the high number would just make you feel worse.
