Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness : Spoiler filled rants/review ahead

Things I loved :

1. The horror vibe of the movie. It was very cool and very unique. While I do like the general structure of MCU movie with action and humor, I loved the fact that MOM has began a new genre/ era for Marvel movies and broke the standard structure of the MCU movies.

2. Visuals were stunning. Again gory and terrifying aspect of the movie was top notch. It didn't feel like light hearted movie. Although they should have given a heads up beforehand because the kids in the theatre got quite a scare in few places. It was definitely not a children's movie.

3. Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen were fantastic in it. In this movie, Doctor Strange finally felt like an unique, complex, emotional character whereas before while I loved him, his character felt very much all about his arrogance and skill. But in this movie Cumberbatch was finally at ease with Strange and completely owned him and I finally felt the kind of magic I feel while watching any other Cumberbatch performance. And Elizabeth Olsen just elevated her performance on a even higher place than what we have seen in Wanda Vision so I guess I won't have to explain how good it is.

4. The cameos. I screamed when I watched John Krasinsky as Reed Richards and of course Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier.

Things I didn't like :

1. The chaos and madness of the movie. I know the title itself said 'madness' but I didn't expect it to be this intense. I got a headache from watching the movie. I got an headache from watching all the chaos unfolding .

2. The plot didn't add any value in the MCU or anywhere. It was just fighting and chaos. But there was not plot from going forward. No question about multiverse was answered. I guess they needed a movie to show how crazy multiverse can be but I felt like they should have balanced it out with some substantial plots as well.

3. Wanda's character assassination. I understand Wanda's villainous transformation but I hated how it was from the very beginning of the movie. Wanda was in a good place in the end of Wanda Vision and if they had shown her slow transformation to the evil side in the movie or he being bad due to the influence of the Darkhold with the progression of the movie, it would not have felt this bad. Wand is after all one of the Avengers who sacrificed her everything to save the world. And in this movie she was committing mass murder left and right from the get go. If she was supposed to be evil in this movie, they shouldn't have left Wanda Vision (post-credit scene aside) on such a hopeful note.

4. The death of the Illuminati. While I know it's not that big of a deal since they were just accessories in this movie, but I hated how they introduced these characters and then just killed them within minutes.

Overall I am not sure whether I loved the film or hated it. It had its moments and was definitely a first in MCU in many aspects. But it was not a great MCU movie. No one is going to claim it as a favorite and neither will it be considered as a masterpiece. And last but not the least, Marvel should fire Michael Waldron as his writing of Multiversal plot is messy, chaotic and non-sense at times. Someone needs to tell him that this is not Rick and Morty. I am scared for Loki s2 now.

So Spider-man No Way Home trailer got leaked. And from the trailer what I found hilarious is that the phase 4 of MCU is basically all the superheros screwing up and creating problems for themselves. Let's dig deep shall we? Spoiler Alert in case you haven't watched any of the Disney plus marvel shows.

So, so far we have got 3 series and two movies for phase four and I haven’t watched Shang-Chi yet so can't explain the shenanigans he has been up to. But otherwise all the superheros have caused some sort of mess.

First up :

1.𝕎𝕒𝕟𝕕𝕒𝕍𝕚𝕤𝕚𝕠𝕟

At the end of WandaVision, Wanda officially becomes the Scarlet Witch who is incredibly powerful but Agatha calls her powers as chaos magic. Wanda had already imprisoned an entire town unconsciously and unintentionally due to her grief. And now she has lost everything once again and in the end credit we hear Tommy and Billy's voice. Now the theory is that even though Tommy and Billy were part of Wanda's fictional creation, there is a chance that they exist in some other universe. And knowing Wanda, she will stop at nothing to get back her sons.

We also know that Wanda will be the antagonist in the upcoming Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness. Causing a multiverse havoc to get back your kids sounds like a legit reason to me.

Can't wait to see Wanda wrecking havoc and driving Doctor Strange mad in the multiverse of madness.

2. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙧

Well, with everything that is happening in the MCU right now, TFAWS does seem like the odd one out at this point. Don't get me wrong, I loved this show but I'm not sure how this 'Screw up' will align with the rest of the MCU plots which seem to surround the Multiverse plot.

Anyway, since 'Screw up' is the concept of this phase 4, our favourite 'bunch of guys' duo has made a tiny-weenie unintentional mistake which is providing Sharon Carter aka Power Broker a full pardon. But in their defence, the last time Sharon risked her life and committed a career suicide to save their asses. But now it seems the good ol Sharon Carter is no longer the good guy and is hell bent on blowing the world up.

Good luck fighting her in the Captain America 4 movie.

3. しᝪᏦᏆ

Among all the Marvel series on Disney Plus, Loki has been my most favourite one, mainly because this is the first series that basically kick started the entire phase four and gave a 101 idea of the Multiverse and where the MCU is headed next. And it's all due to the big 'Screw up' of our favourite character Sylvie (there's no sarcasm there, i genuinely love her). Although it's understandable why she did what she did, her as far as screw ups go, this one definitely takes the prize.

In Sylvie's pursuit of revenge against TVA which we later on got to know is run by He Who Remains, Sylvie has freed all the timeline by killing the man who happens to be the variant of Kang the conquerer. So now MCU has their new big baddie Kang who will make Thanos look like a little bitch and a very new plot which will generate 10 years worth of movies for next few phases of MCU, that is the Multiverse.

Honestly not at all mad at Sylvie since this freeing the timeline is going to give us a 2nd season of Loki and more Hiddleston. How can anyone complain about that right?

Spiderman No Way Home is got to be the most anticipated movie of this year and the fans have been going crazy over the last few months to see the trailer of this movie.

And now finally we have the leaked version of the trailer which is pretty hard to understand. But from I understood from a breakdown video of the trailer, the big 'Screw up' of this movie is done by none other than our favourite Sherlock, the master of the mystic arts, Mister Doctor Strange.

Basically, Peter comes to Doctor Strange to help him make everyone forget the fact that he is the Spider-man (as Mysterio has revealed his identity in the last movie) and Strange decides to help him by casting a spell that Wong warns him as dangerous and then mess up due to Peter's excessive chattering. And viola, instead of Toby Macguire and Andrew Garfield' Spidermans, we get all their villains coming to wreck havoc in Tom Holland's universe. This whole screw up kind of confuses me because Strange once was the man who said he wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice Peter and Tony in order to save the time stone. He doesn’t seem like the type to do dangerous magic just to solve an identity concealment problem of a teenager (I mean it's a big problem but not world ending type right?).

So now once again we have got another Superhero, well in this case two causing a mess that is leading us to another round of multiverse problem.

Well, even though I found the entire 'Screw up' of this duo extremely silly and unnecessary, I can't help being excited about seeing Doctor Octopus!

As funny as it is, I kinda feel sad for MCU that now they are resorting to their superheros to create their own problems to solve. But at the same time it is kind of putting the superheros in a very humane light as they will be shown to be flawed and prone to mistakes. So I am not sure whether I am excited about this whole new chapter of MCU or am I bracing myself for disappointment. What's your thought on seeing your favourite superheros solving the mess they created themselves?
