You were laying with Frank in bed,he was fast asleep. He was on his side holding you close to him while you were on your back.
One of his arms placed over your torso the other wrapped behind you. Holding you as close to him as he could. Not wanting to be far away from you,even in sleep. You were his comfort,his safety,as much as he was yours.
His face was in the crook of your neck,his soft breathing and gentle scratch of his stubble tickling you. You hold in the giggle as he begins to murmur something adorable about groceries in his sleep. The nightmares have stopped but instead he’d murmur funny things in his sleep and never believed you when you told him.
He pulls away slightly and places his head on his own pillow but still holds you close to him. You watch his chest slowly rise and fall. His facial features at ease. His usual scowl is gone for the moment. He was a beauty,scowling or not you would never tire of looking at him.
You take his heavy hand he had on your torso and hold it in yours,slowly caressing the skin and admiring his skilled fingers,the same fingers that have pulled countless triggers but also brought you to ecstasy and softly wiped away your tears whenever you cried...His hands were much bigger than yours and more calloused and rough but they were your favorite hands.
They held yours when you crossed the busy NY streets,when you were out and he wanted to make sure people knew you were his. Frank wasn’t much for PDA but he was very touchy. So this was his compromise.
Even at home he would hold your hand,while watching tv relaxing he would give your hand a soft squeeze which would cause you to look at him and crinkle your nose. Every time you would respond that way his heart would burst.
You were lost in thought till you felt him move and hear him clear his throat.
“What you still doing awake baby girl?” “Just thinking.” you reply
“What about?” He interlaces his fingers with yours. “Us..you mostly and how much you enjoy holding my hand.” You smile at him and he blushes.
“Yeah? Have I ever told you why I enjoy it so much?” You shake your head no.
“Well, sweetheart I love the way your hand fits in mine because it’s like it was made just for me to hold,molded so perfectly in mine.. Your smooth skin compared to my rough hands? My calloused thumb caressing your perfect soft skin. I never want to let go.” He says slightly hovering above you,eyes looking into yours. “Just like the way our bodies fit perfectly together.” He kisses your cheek and pulls you to him again. “The same way our hearts fit together. We were made for one another.”
