i decided to do the "things have changed" prompt but i interpreted it a bit creatively hehe :]

this is an au where krux is a trans woman and socially transitioned 10 years before season 7

after the initial confusion, acronix is very happy and very excited to have an older sister now :D

The Cassette Tape AU

an au in which krux dies of an illness a week before day of the departed takes place, leaving behind 7 cassette tapes to acronix that explain their plan to take over ninjago

in each tape, krux's voice audibly gets weaker and quieter, and he spends less and less time discussing the plan and instead spends more time talking to acronix, giving him personal advice & anecdotes

strangely enough, the red coloration from acronix's armor disappeared as soon as he dropped into ninjago. when he found out about his brother's death, acronix "lost his voice" and stopped talking to anyone

ironically and sadly enough, the plan ends up succeeding *because* krux wasnt there. the ninja never connected the dots that dr saunders was krux (because he was dead), and the lack of disagreements between the time twins meant there were little-to-no disruptions to the plan

isnt that cruel? the only timeline in which the time twins succeed is the one where one of them is dead, having never been able to reunite with his twin, never knowing if the plan he died for ever worked out?

i just remembered the super deep headcanon lore i made for krux & acronix's family lol

first, i hc that they inherited the element of time from their mother, who was named cittrix (post here explaining why)

before the time twins were born, the previous elemental masters of time (including cittrix) would have a handful of villages under their personal protection

it started out as a noble thing but it VERY quickly turned into greed since the time family would prioritize the safety of the villages who gave a lot of "offerings" (like land, gold, property, etc) and would straight up abandon villages that didnt give "offerings"

next, their father, who was named kaius, was the ruler of a small kingdom that was constantly at war with other kingdoms

kaius ruled his kingdom with an iron fist and hed immediately crush any rebellions or coups that would form. he was also fighting off his own family since they were all trying to steal the throne from him

krux was raised to inherit their father's kingdom while acronix was raised to inherit their mother's village protectorate but during the serpentine war they were like "nah. we're gonna do our own thing" and they made their plan for the revolt & world domination

they both really dont vibe with "birthright" stuff and theyd much rather put in the work to become rulers. also why rule over a couple of villages and a small kingdom when you can instead rule over the entirety of ninjago?

so yea krux & acronix are reverse (??) nepo babies LMAO

bonus: kaius is metalonian and since metalonia is seemingly more accepting of non-humans, krux & acronix are a lot more tolerant of serpentine & other non-humans compared to other ninjagans

i need to see krux in a wet t-shirt contest- WHO SAID THATTTT

this is what every other krux and acronix design looks like to me

if you think about it, season 7 from acronix's perspective is just a reverse isekai

honestly jay, nya, AND pixal shouldve all been the mechanics for the team at the same time, and they couldve been in charge of building different things

jay is the one in charge of building vehicles, since she met wu while trying to fly with a pair of wings she built, and her parents built their own car out of scrap metal

nya is the one in charge of building mechs and weapons, since she built her own mech and weapons when she was samurai x

and pixal is in charge of upgrading the monastery, since her dad has a tower thats decked out in hi-tech security features and stuff that she probably helped in designing

they couldve been girlies in stem together grahhhhh

zane ninjago and sniper tf2 are basically the same character if you think about it
