I think it would be cool if they paralleled arajin’s knack for attracting a bunch of delinquent men with mahoro attracting a couple of delinquent girls (except instead of being exasperated like arajin mahoro is mildly curious about why)
Something that always I think back to is how Marito orders his sister to leave just after she uses the "family only" card to get Arajin to leave them alone.
Like the subject of "family" is something of a sore subject that he doesn't enjoy very much and would rather separate himself from as much as possible. Not to mention how he turns so cold and serious when dismissing Mahoro compared to how lively and carefree he is with Arajin. A random schuck who he's only known for a few weeks.
It's just a small observation and there hasn't been many references to his family background, something tells me that he doesn't have the best relationship with his biological family. It's telling how he feels more comfortable and happy interacting with other teens he's known in less time compared to the brocon his own flesh and blood. Especially since we've never seen him act this way with Mahoro compared to Arajin/Siguma Squad/Minato Kai etc. And yes he does eat her disgusting meal when he's alone, but why didn't do that earlier if he could tolerate it? Why hide it in secret? He does "care" to a degree but it's not on the same level as how he treats his friends.
What do you guys think? If you have any other ideas on this, you're more than welcome to reblog this with your thoughts on the subject.
Well… I think if there is one thing we can be clear about, it's that Bucchigiri needed more episodes, this was one of many things that was left unexplained.
There's a possibility that Marito is aware of Mahoro's obsession and his apparent distancing from her is a way of not encouraging that behavior, perhaps hoping that she will notice someone else(Whether or not it's the most correct way to do it is debatable). I think that if it hadn't been for the brutal way in which Marito was defeated, perhaps Mahoro would have felt interested in Matakara, not enough to fall in love with him, but enough to break the idea of perfection that she had regarding her brother.
Mahoro was another character who needed her own arc to develop, but the short duration of the anime worked against her. Although it seems to me that she also works metaphorically for both Arajin and Matakara, she deserves more.
I understand that she couldn't be given so much screen time, but given the themes that Bucchigiri addresses, it would have been nice to give some resolution to her character, not to mention that seeing the dynamic between Marito and Mahoro would have been interesting, as well as a complement to contrast with Matakara
Thank you for your input on the subject @natalisdragon and @certifiedlesbianvampire !
While it is true that this show could have benefitted from a second season, and I wouldn't be against it if there was, I do believe that they could have still done more with the 12 episodes they had to work with. The show could have made small references or implications about the family life of the Jin Siblings and what they dealt with growing up.
I do agree that their home life wasn't the healthiest given Marito's disdain for "family" and how Mahoro overly relies on him for love and emotional support. I also agree that Marito has some awareness of her crush on him and tries to set limits (Like in Episode 9, it can be assumed that he really doesn't like her breaking into his room based on how he tried to look for her). Though how much he commits to those limits is up for debate as he still lets her hang around his gang activities (even letting her take photos of him during the Group Date).
And apart from being a brocon, Mahoro's main purpose is to be a love interest to motivate Arajin into becoming involved in the gang life while also highlighting the parallels between him and Matakara. It's sad because she does have the same set up of unhealthy idolization like the boys and how it effects Marito. But yet, she's brushed aside and treated as a gag character while the boys get to have their respective issues fleshed out.

Guess I'll just check in, have a redesign I made for Mahoro
she was the start of my downfall, my trojan horse you could say
doodle dump!! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡
(some) of my thoughts, rambles, and theories- bucchigiri?! ep 6
oh boy... that was a lot. an end to the gang war arc, and soon, the start to a new one. i want to start off by saying the animation was awesome this episode. all the action, emotional moments and small bits of comedy hit where they needed to.
i think it's interesting that it's not just that mahoro absolutely ROASTED akutaro, she also inspired arajin to kick his ass. NOT JUST because he has a crush on her, but because she refused to run, which is what arajin has been doing- it's a wake-up call for him to get some of his shit together.
it's also made blatantly clear that arajin does care about matakara.(the first person he sees when he gains consciousness is him getting fucking beat) hopefully next ep we get to see how their relationship develops from here. obviously they're not quite there yet, and i still think they're going to have a fight at some point- the next conflict focusing on matakara, and arajin showing us how much he's grown.
also, now that akutaro has been defeated, i wonder how ichiya will merge with matakara? how will matakara's conflict, brother, and ichiya and senya's past together play into this? will it be at the expense of matakara himself?
i also don't think this is the end of arajin's development, it's just the start. he'll always be a cringefail loser, but i think what ppl need to realize is that's okay. (his battle cry is still that he wants to lose his virginity, but that's not all there is to him! he beats up akutaro regardless.) he can be a loser and have development. he's not just one or the other, just like the rest of the characters in the show. they can be silly, beat people to a pulp AND have their own emotional moments. the show so far allows all of it, i think that's what makes it so great.
i can't wait to see where the show goes next!!
this is all I could think of when Mahoro told Arajin to stop her brother from starting a war tbh
i might like this anime
