Tom Bomba-huh??
We already knew the fanfic Sociopathic Mary Sue and the Scroll of Convenience was going to squat out a season two. We also know that Amazon cannot touch anything substantial that is already out there. So, why not throw Tom Bombadil into the mix?
Basically, all we know is that he existed since the beginning and is essentially unconcerned and unaffected by the goings on in Arda. A perfect opportunity for Amazon!
While the twitterverse is whining about doing Tom dirty, they've forgotten that he wasn’t mentioned outside the Old Man Willow incident. Tolkien never said a thing. Well, other than he wore a blue coat, yellow boots and a feather in his hat. (and one would think that he would have something different in his wardrobe thousands of years before that!)
The next step is to have Tom (who was never mentioned) meet up with the Harfoots (who did not exist) and the Stranger (who was never mentioned) and wander off to Rhûn. There's no legitimate basis for people to be complaining.
I'm just going to sit back and wait to see not how Amazon's Tom is "not real Tolkien", but how bad a storyline Amazon will inflict upon us
