The back room is hazy with cloying cigar smoke. It makes Castiel want to cough, to rid his lungs of the poison, but he represses the urge with a heavy swallow of his whiskey. He can’t do anything about the sting in his eyes though, other than blink it away.

Soft jazz music filters under the closed door, a young woman crooning about her lover’s unfaithful heart back in the club, but in this room there is only the quiet grinding of teeth as the burly men around the table observe their cards and wait, impatient but still, for Castiel to take his turn.

In his hand Castiel has a straight flush. It’s enough to win the significant amount of money in the pot, but he doesn’t say so. Not yet.

“Fold.” He places his cards face-down and Crowley, the unpleasant British man who runs this poker game, smirks and gathers up the bills from the middle of the table. There’s at least seventy dollars there. The thought of letting Fergus Crowley take it makes Castiel feel sick. He shoots another look towards the door, waiting.

Sometimes in fics, you see a public interaction between Dean, Cas, and a local homophobe, and every fic I’ve read handles Dean’s reaction differently.

However, I don’t think we’d see a reaction out of Dean.

Because always-protective, very supportive baby brother Sam fucking Winchester would immediately stand up, becoming 6'4 of intimidation, and just level them with a “buddy, knock it off.”

Destiel + Text From Last Night

Finished commission for theangelicjerk, who asked for punk!destiel modeled after their own cosplays (which you can find on their blog!)

This looks like Cas is trying very hard to stay mad, but then Dean started taking off his clothes.

Cas: “That’s not fair, Dean.”

Dean: “Exactly.”

Is this not how that conversation went? Whoops.

The thing is I have not stopped shipping destiel, but I don’t think I could handle it happen right now, simply because Dean doesn’t deserve Cas anymore. I still want them to be together yes, but first I need Cas to stand up for himself and call Dean out on his bullshit. I need Cas to know that he deserves better, that he deserves love. I need Cas to tell Dean no and to go screw himself. I need Dean to realize that he fucked up big time, and as much as I hate Dean’s low self esteem, I think he should feel damn guilty about he treated Cas. I need Dean to apology to Cas, I need Cas to ignore Dean like Dean did with Cas in season 8 after the crypt scene. I need Dean trying to win Cas back, to realize how much the angel means to him. I need Dean to fight for Cas. I need Dean to make up for all the shit he did. That’s how I ship destiel now. It’s even more painful than it has been before, but I just can’t stand how canon!dean treats canon!cas.
