On July 19, 2018, The Clone Wars series was confirmed to return for its seventh season. This blog is about the community and appreciating the series. Feel free to let us know if you'd like to share something you've created, have a question or need something specific tagged! Thank you to everyone who supported us during our time as "Finish The Clone Wars."
This is a really interesting blog post I found thanks to reddit as of recent. The author discusses the looseness and chaos of Star Wars Canon and how fans should be allowed to come up with whatever they want while the creators basically just tell the stories.
By this extent, I am more than capable of suggesting that the Kyber 6 survived the Jedi Purge because their deaths are not actually confirmed despite the heavy de-facto implication.
I encourage everyone to give this blogpost a read.
Once you embrace a view that “canon” is ultimately an individual choice, i.e. “reader-centered”, and that there is merit to people sharing a diversity of views on what constitutes their individual “canon” then the notion of “canon” can become very fruitful and productive. It is an encouragement to seek for a deeper level of personal understanding of what attracts you in Star Wars narratives, what you find compelling and what inspires you.
It sounds like this is defining how people take on personal headcanons, which is definitely something that happens. And something that is bound to happen with Star Wars, especially. The fact that the EU is a thing is reason enough.
When new content is not moderated and the helm keeps getting passed around from creator to creator, there always bound to be someone who will do something with the universe that we don’t like.
So, in my opinion, fans are totally free to pick and choose what they like and run with it.
There are often many things that we are certain of in life, but it also takes very little to shift and change the path in front of you.
The change may not be one they are willing to do -- but one that is necessary to survive. And it is a big enough change that the person may not come out recognizable to the people they once knew.
A change in allegiance. A change in ideals. Enough that they would likely change in appearance to reflect that as well.
Seeing the recent post made me want to see some more from the citadel arc! I know it’s not the most popular one but I’d like to see some art of those episodes, they’re really nostalgic for me!
I can look into finding some concept art and art revolving around that arc!
Despite it being very painful, that arc has a lot of great things going for it too.
Gifs are going to be a little more difficult, but I will look into making more when I find a good place to rewatch.
i know im probably the millionth person to complain about this but (other than the clones??) the texturing on the new season so far looks totally different. I'm hoping it's still not quite ready but it looks like a mesh of the old clone wars with rebels and it really just doesn't look good? the skin texturing is so off and just looks gross, especially for ahsoka
I’m afraid I’m not the ideal person to bring into this conversation if you are looking for validation.
It sounds like you’ve already been convinced of how much you dislike it and, though I disagree on your reasoning, I am honestly too tired to take on any sort of responsibility to convince you otherwise.
To me, I am looking at things with an open mind.
It’s been over a decade since the original show ran. The tools and programs have changed. The technology has advanced. And with all these things to consider, I am honestly happy with the fact that they have at least retrained what they could of the overall original style.
Even if the visual animation feels different than their first trailer, I still find the art style compelling and visually striking to watch.
I can understand critiquing content – I encourage this with any sort of entertainment content we consume – but I am going to withhold any observations for after the series is released.
you mentioning Cut made me remember that clones have accelerated ageing and then I realized that Cut probably died of old age waaay before Suu and now i'm sad
I’m sure it was something he discussed with his family for a long while before his passing. I’d like to think that when the moment came, he was surrounded by the people he loved.
And more importantly, he knew just how much he was loved.
I just found this blog and may I say this is such a meticulously tagged/inclusive clone wars blog! Ty for tagging even very minor characters (lol always my favs) it makes it so easy to find other people who draw them ♡
Thank you! I also sometimes go back and revisit old posts so the tagging has been helpful for on my end as well ^^ Also, the show consists of so many characters -- I feel it’s only fair to help other people try and track their favorites, if they like.
Have you ever noticed that Jango Fett never really had a love interest during the cloning processes. Like, he was a single father by choice and never really looked into it. Though, there was one female in the movies but sadly she was killed off. Their relationship was explored a little bit in comics but nothing that i would scream as "their together". Even so, what are your thoughts on this? Who have you seen him with, and do you think it was met to be romantic?
From the way that they portrayed him in the movies, and also what we hear of him from other people – what is pretty clear is how much he cares for his son.
And with that being are the forefront constantly, I never really perceived that Jango wanted for a long term romantic relationship. And perhaps it’s a little too perfect that Boba would never really yearn for a “mother-figure” in his life when having a father at all is already his whole world.
I could see Jango being open to it. But it’s not a priority for him – he’s not wanting for it, and I feel he would honestly be alright with it just being him and his son against the galaxy.
I know that people suspect Zam Wessel – after all, it seems he trusts her to a certain extent. They went on numerous jobs together in the past and he decided to go to her when it came to being hired to assassinate Padme Amidala. A job, I think, he took very seriously if he was enlisting help even when he was already a very experienced bounty hunter.
I’ve talked about Wolffe in detail in the past and honestly, I respect where he comes from. His absolute loyalty which stems from his respect of Plo Koon and then his eventual distrust of the Jedi later in Rebels after the events of Order 66 and however that must have tragically played out.
I hope we get to see him in the last season, definitely!
re: Togruta montrals: I LOVE that art, but I noted your tags and in the EU, there were comics that confirmed that the montrals were solid/hollow bone, but togruta lekku can move independently like twi'lek lekku. There was an Old Republic comic that showed a Jedi Master vs Sith and the Jedi got hit with lightning and they drew the bone structure. Not canon anymore, but also not contradicted.
Not canon anymore, but also not contradicted. This is incredibly astute in terms of a lot of the EU nowadays tbh lol
Ahhh now that you mention it, I remember reading about that! Thinking about their montrals/lekku getting hit by lighting -- ow. That must have hurt a lot!
I also remember reading how the montrals being hollow helped togruta with keeping balance. Also, Ahsoka covering her...”ears” here was always interesting to me. Like, how does this work?
There is just...so much we don’t really know for sure, it’s frustrating we have basically nothing nailed down when it comes to a lot of the alien species -- even ones that are as commonplace as the twi’leks and togruta.
Did you notice that the animation between the first and second trailers for season 7 are different?? I’m concerned this animation is gonna be like rebels- blocky and awkward
I feel that them forwarding what they got from animating Rebels was inevitable, but I don’t think they lost any of the integrity of the original series neither. When they showcased two clips during the Star Wars Celebration, I didn’t notice anything immediately off about the animation. Stylistically, Rebels has always been different from The Clone Wars – and it’s something that was immediately noticed by everyone.Even the way they are story boarded, the way that their scenes are mapped are very different. And I feel like this is going to be a big factor in how we perceive the animation.
I would say that The Clone Wars is more “grandiose” in terms of how they do their action scenes, for instance. There are often moments where they are panning over the area, and also doing constant cuts to create a hectic, rushed feel to their action scenes. The Clone Wars also has its focus on large groups of characters – such as the clones. The camera shifts and moves often, and there are often switches between close up shots of characters being actively attacked, to far off shots where you can see all of them at once.
Rebels is more small group focused, more personable. War isn’t seen as this heroic or grand thing as much as a necessity they must all take part in. The scenes in turn do not try to cut too often as you take everything in. The camera keeps its steady focus on the characters and keeps you involved in everything that they are doing. You can often see their entire bodies and track their movements as they fight – or at least take in their movements from the chest upward, reading their emotions. Characters can often look awkward or clunky when moving, but I always felt like…this was intentional. Often, these aren’t seasoned warriors, but common people trying to survive with the skills they learned along the way. It’s always clear what the characters are doing, and you rarely lose track of any of them among the chaos.
If The Clone Wars has borrowed anything from Rebels, I feel that even if they are animated in the same way, the way the scenes are story boarded still feels very indicative of the original series. Things look sharper, the colors look brighter and smoother, the animations still look spot on in terms of emotional range and secondary movements. And none of this is to say that Rebels was animated badly at all – rather that the two shows are different and were two stories that needed to be showed differently.
Honestly, I can’t speak for any specific technicalities in terms of animation and am hardly an expert on the subject, but these are things I noticed when comparing the two clips.
Here are the two videos for people who want to watch themselves and make their own conclusions:
As someone who is spoiler-phobic, and doesn't have the Disney streaming service, can you please tag the Clone wars reblogs something specific for a while? If not that's okay.
No worries! That is definitely something I had in mind when we got news about the last season being confirmed.
I’ll tag them as both “Clone Wars Spoilers” and “Clone Wars Last Season Spoilers” for anyone who wants to block them.
I’ll also give some breathing time and won’t reblog any new content immediately after release to give people a chance to catch up if they need to. (About 2 days at most)
Since we’ve all been waiting for this season for a long time, I feel it’s only fair to give everyone a chance to experience it for the first time so we can all engage and enjoy the content together.
To get there, you have to fight through chaos and danger. Sometimes, it is the sort of chaos that is out of your control. It cannot be bargained with. It continues, undaunted and without mercy.
However, if you persevere and survive, you might just make it to the eye of the storm.
We’ll reblog your writing on Writing Wednesday on 11/14! But no worries if you miss the date, feel free to submit any works late and we’ll reblog it asap!
I am MatchboxSFM, I started to throw this together as soon as I’d watched the trailer. Also want to say thank you for the constant stream of optimism and Clone Wars optimism on your blog.
