we’ve pretty much accepted that Ramsay must have told him about the Red Wedding, which is rather awful on the face of it because he probably gloated over it

but I was rethinking this and I imagine Ramsay would have known about the wedding plans before it actually happened 

and he might have told Theon about it beforehand, because he’d be down there chained up knowing it was about to go down, knowing Robb was walking into a trap, wondering if it was real or not, and not able to do a damn thing about it, and that’s much worse than him finding out after the fact

And maybe there was a part of Theon that still thought Robb would be okay, that he wouldn’t fall for it, or Grey Wind would protect him and then it happens and just NO

AND EVEN WHEN RAMSAY STARTS TELLING HIM ALL THE GORY DETAILS OF WHAT HAPPENED HE DOESN’T ENTIRELY BELIEVE IT’S NOT SOME ELABORATE GAME

until he hears about Cat and her knife and her threats and her bargaining and that she died too (Ramsay probably thinks this is hilarious because he can’t imagine some middle-aged lady doing anything like this) 

and that’s when he knows it is true

because he knows she’d destroy everything in her path and sacrifice herself to save Robb and that’s not something Ramsay could have made up; that’s something that happened
