I guess Shiroin is not fertile, but is Kiel? Can the blood kin reproduce with humans? And if yes, are the offspring fully functional?
Aha! Very good and valid RBD Qs!!
- No. Shiroin isn’t fertile. She thinks, I’m Book One, that the reason for this is because she’s underweight/slow puperty, and just haven’t gotten her period. BUT, there’s a parasitic aspect in her curse/dark magic/serpent friend that lives in her. It has frozen her body —and that’s also why she looks very young. And I will have to point out that Kiel isn’t attracted so much to her looks, it’s more the clever strangeness that he likes. And her determination.
- Kiel is fertile. Yup. And ehhhh, that’s problematic because he does not want children. Ever. Sooo... hm. Maybe I should disclose this just yet.. but hmm. He found a solution to the problem. A very unlikable solution. Hmm. Kiel is a mean selfish bastard... like, really.
- Yes! The kids between humans and Elsalvians are called ‘Smeared Children’. And they can reproduce too. But smeared kiddies don’t live that long. They inherit random traits from their parents; teeth, hair, eyes. And if there’s a girl walking around with a normal face and hair, but has those iconic sawlike teeth, then she will get hunted by both sides, and both consider it ‘impure’.
