Less awkward

Well... I usually don't really write fanfiction, but instead prefer to stick more directly to the text and focusing on my own visual interpretation for that (unless it is jokey jokes, then all bets are off). But I also am a sucker for casual romance side plots that while being not the main focus of the story still are there and important to the characters and their progression. Hence these kind of scenes don't need much prompting to form in my brain... It was important to me that their dialogue, as I imagined it in their voices, still sounded true to their characters and I tried out several things for the coloration of this to make it als light and fluffy as possible without becoming too kitschy? It is more or less the antithesis to the Lonely scene... also since weird kissing sounds are not a problem in this medium... yeah. Yeah.

a…. sequel? to my last tma post

[ID:  Four gifs directly following when Jon brings forth the apocalypse.  Jon is lying face down on the floor in the safe house.  He’s in the living room as he’s next to a fireplace and an armchair.  Outside the window, cartoony tentacles and snapping jaws wave in the distance against a green, apocalyptic sky.  Jon raises his arm and points, starting with a shaky “I–”.  The scene changes to show the cottage in the Scottish highlands amidst a nightmare landscape of green fire, tentacles, and other monsters.  Several giant eyes look in random directions in the sky.  Jon’s dialogue continues, with “–close the door…”  The eyes freeze and the pupils shrink in fear and realization, and all at once the apocalypse reverses.  The dark green sky wipes away to reveal a peachy sunset, the tentacles and monsters disappear with it, and the eyes collapse to a point and vanish with a pop.  In the final panel, the tiny figures of Jon and Martin celebrate outside as “Apocalypse Averted” is written across the sky in white text.]

In today’s update, Martin Blackwood threatens to throw hands with a teenager for making his boyfriend cry.

You know all those happy ending au jokes where Jon has to make up excuses for his many scars to strangers?

Imagine someone asking "how'd you get that real nasty one on your stomach/chest" followed by Jon and Martin making the most awkward eye contact and simultaneously blurting out "mugger" (Martin) and "it was consensual" (Jon.)

Pffff

At the end of it all, all of TMA really boils down to this line I think

My life philosophy tbh.

TMA time travel au but instead of Jon physically going back in time he finds a way to send just his memories back to his past self, so it’s basically season 5′s guilt-ridden-eldritch-monster Jon’s mind in season 1′s repressed-pompous-jerk Jon’s very mortal body trying to figure out how to explain the institute and Elias to the og archive crew without them thinking he’s gone insane, while also grappling with being mostly human again and trying not to flirt with Martin to hard because of every time he’s remotely nice Martin short circuits.

Jon smiles back at him warmly, giving a little wave, “Ah, hi Martin! I’m great, how are you?” His tone is very obviously affectionate, which Martin reacts to with unnerved confusion. Tim and Sasha also appear popping into frames with looks of shock and concern. 

The Archive staff hovers around Jon, clearly worried. Martin grips his bag “-You’re sure he’s not feverish, or, or dehydrated, or-” Tim lifts his hand from Jon’s forehead, “-It could be a sleep thing… how many hours did ya get last night, boss?”

“Oh god, is it worms somehow!?!?” Martin panics. Sasha starts looking Jon over, yanking his shirt sleeve up, “I don’t see any marks… has he-” She lowers her voice to a whisper, “Um… has he been near that weird table recently?” End description.]

What have you done with their terrible boss whomst they love so dearly, you monster???

I had a very very similar idea once! Ohhh, knowledge is power....
