Dahlia is very debbie from addams family coded (the dialogue is ripped straight out of her monologue in family values)

I have drawn Pearl before! They're all under her tag but they're not very good so..!! Have a new Pearl! She's sad.
[ID: Saturated art of Dahlia Hawthorne and Pearl Fey. Dahlia looks down at Pearl with her face mostly hidden from view of the camera due to the angle of her face. Pearl looks down at the ground with a frown and says, "Can you go to therapy?". Dahlia replies, "No." and Pearl ends the conversation with "Please?" in big letters. /end ID]

Remaining cards (that haven’t been done and/or paid yet): 7 (I had put 16 hahaha sorry I’m kinda tired)
Interested in commissioning a card for the project? TAKE THAT for all information about them! You can also interrogate me (or ask nicely, which is a lot better) about the remaining cards and characters!
I’m taking these commissions on those terms only until January 31st 2015. (it’s on the main info here) Which means you can commission me until that limit date.
I might make a couple people mad but "Terry Fawles was an intellectually disabled man that Dahlia Hawthrone took advantage of." and "Fawles' relationship with Dahlia was horribly inappropriate and she was right to distrust him" are two statements that can coexist.

[ID: Two digital illustrations featuring characters from Ace Attorney.
1. Iris and Dahlia Hawthorne. Iris is sitting, hunched into herself. One hand is clutching onto her elbow, and the other is pulling up her hood, as if to cover her face. She is staring at the viewer in horror. Dahlia is kneeling behind her, parasol on her shoulder. She is smiling with her red eyes almost closed, combing Iris’s hair. The part of Iris’s hair Dahlia is combing is dyed the same red as her own hair. There are 3 white butterflies flying around them. They are surrounded by red dahlias. The background is solid green.
2. Klavier Gavin and Kristoph Gavin. Klavier is sitting with his guitar on his lap. Kristoph is behind him, covering his eyes and whispering into his ear. There is a skull scar on the back of Kristoph’s hand. Kristoph is glancing off to the side, eyes a vibrant purple. The background is a solid yellowish green.

I think part of the reason why I'm so obsessed with Dahlia is because her and Phoenix are such great foils of each other.
Like, they're both the only people we know who've fallen from Dusky Bridge into the Eagle River and survived, but Phoenix accidentally fell because he was trying to protect his family while Dahlia was purposefully trying to leave hers
And on the subject of family, Dahlia tries so hard to hold disdain for and distance herself from her biological family, whereas Phoenix cares so much about and tries so hard to keep ahold of his found family
In addition, even though Dahlia appears at first glance to be a good actor, she actually loses her composure/drops the act/messes up her story very quickly. On the other hand, Phoenix appears to be a completely open book, but he's actually one of the most secretive characters in AA, and his bluffing skills are of course legendary
There's just... so much to compare between these two. They're selfishness vs. selflessness; they're a killer masquerading as an angel vs. a white knight viewed by many as a corrupt defender of murderers; they're deception vs. the truth. And yet they're also so similar in their passion, drive, and downright stubbornness. And that always makes me wonder whether them meeting under different circumstances might have led to them being friends (or if they're so different they'd be enemies no matter what)
listen dahlia's actions in bridge to the turnabout are another story but i gotta say i think her actions in turnabout beginnings are perfectly excusable. like if i was fourteen years old and living in an absolutely loveless family and my twenty one year old tutor started fawning all over me and calling me his "teen angel" i'd fake my own death and start a new life and let him be put on death row in the process as well. and manipulate him into drinking poison i'd do that too
when capcom does similiarities in aa sprites between mentors and students and family members its such a small detail but also very cute
Always liked the detail of Bratworth in 3-4 having von Karma’s signature finger wag, which he thankfully abandoned by the time of 1-2 - it shows how much he used to look up to that monster.
Similarly to this, Trucy used to pose like her father Zak when she was a kid…
… but she stopped doing this after Phoenix adopted her.
Another cool detail is that Simon and Aura Blackquill have the same laughter and tendencies to smack things, lol
And while Iris is for most of the time a palette swap of Dahlia, one of her few original poses is identical to one of her half-sister Pearl - while Dahlia is so detatched from the Fey family that she has nothing in common with them.
When Trucy’s older she actually starts posing like Phoenix!
We all know about how Franny grips her shoulder like her father.
But her curtsy is also obviously derived from her brother’s bow!
But where does Miles get it? His father of course!
And who else got it from Gregory?
CANNOT believe this one wasn’t mentioned here
it’s easily one of the most bone-chilling moments if you recognize the pose
This is the worst one thanks
I’d argue that there’s one Fey Dahlia has something in common with:
She got that death glare from her mother.
(Something I find really interesting though is that for all these familial likenessess in poses, two people who share absolutely no poses at ALL are Klavier and Kristoph Gavin.
Kristoph always keeps his arms crossed, either in front of himself or behind his back. Klavier, on the other hand, always keeps his posture open, never crosses his arms and rather keeps his hands in his pockets, something Kristoph would never do.
It’s fascinating to see that as much as they share a superficial likeness in looks, they hold themselves so different. It is definitely deliberate, probably both in an in-universe sense, and from a design perspective.)
Gonna add my own favorite pair of mirror poses here!
based on @greentrickster ’s Kristoph Gavin: Bastard Attorney AU in which every in game asshole is involved in one very long trial the dialogue is from @the-gavinners ’s absolutely stunning tags
Yessss
Dahlia’s worst crime is ruining pink shirts for Phoenix :(
(via @t4t-wrightworth)
the best running theme of Phoenix Wright is that he 100% just rolls with whatever relationship other people decide to have with him. His only girlfriend basically just walked up to him and said “you. we’re dating now and you love me very much” and he was like “yeah okay, lemme know if you have a sweater I can wear to really drive the point home.” The Fey sisters basically grabbed him and said “I guess you’re our brother now” and he was like “yeah sure do you have any family drama I could get involved in?” Even Trucy just sorta told him “hey you’re my dad” and he was like “Mm. Guess I’d better get a job, huh.”
Look I need to point out for anyone not in the fandom that the section with Trucy isn’t just true, it’s nearly an exact quote.
yeah it’s important to note that this is not an exaggeration or comedy oversimplification, this is literally how he adopted his daughter in the actual game
The only person important to Phoenix this doesn’t apply to is Edgeworth, who he changes his major and career in order just to meet. Everyone else is just like “Oh, you’re this to me now? Cool, okay, I’ll update my Christmas card list”. Edgeworth? “Nope, I know who are you are. Not just ‘who you are to me’ but who you are as a person. I’ve known since I was nine. Anyone, including you, who says you’re not like that is wrong. And I’m going to nag you until you become that person again whether you like it or not.”
You’re not who you were when you were nine? B u l l s h i t. Let me just change my ENTIRE CAREER CHOICE just to find out why you’re not who you were when you were nine aND THEN GET YOU BACK TO THE EDGEWORTH I KNOW.
It has been done before, but not nearly enough, I feel. So, I present to you my rendition of the Ace Attorney Legally Blonde AU. I think about this when I'm at work a lot so I need to write it down or it'd be more of a waste of time then it has been.
- Obviously Phoenix (in Feenie form) is our Elle. He is basically a Walmart brand, mlm Elle Woods, to be honest. He's excitable, wears bright clothes, changed his career track to law from a completely different major, and had a toxic relationship that cost him a lot in his early 20s that he comes out the other side of better. He is Elle Woods.
- Edgeworth is a bit more complicated. Phoenix became a lawyer for Miles, yes, the same way Elle went to Harvard for Warner. However, Miles is traumatized and emotionally distant, he's not just a complete douchebag like Warner. So I propose he takes on the love-interest role of Emmet, but the sort of class adversary of Vivian. If Wright is Feenie, Miles is Bratworth (repressed, pompous, and kinda mean) and he is not the "help out of the goodness of my heart" type at that age. He'll come around, though (just like Vivian).
- Now for the mentor aspect of Emmet: Mia! Mia is a bit older than Phoenix, so her being a TA during his first year works. Not to mention Ms. Fey got Phoenix to where he is now canonically. She is written for this role and slots into it perfectly in this AU.
- Kristoph is Callahan because they are both manipulative sleazebags. I have seen this on other people's versions of this AU and completely agree. Yes, he does hit on Feenie. Yes, it is very uncomfortable. And he will pay for it.
- And, of course, Dahlia is the one that breaks Feenie's heart at the beginning. I am still debating in my head whether she is going to law school or not, but she has the same line of reasoning as Warner. Feenie isn't serious enough and she's grown out of their relationship. If she is going to law school, that sets it up as basically the plot of the original film.
- Even if he isn't following Miles to law school in this version, Phoenix is ecstatic that Edgeworth is there. Their reunion probably doesn't go so well, Feenie not knowing that Miles is an angry, repressed individual now that doesn't do warm, familiar greetings. Phoenix probably calls him "Miles" instead of "Edgeworth" and he gets upset.
- There are four internship spots and, for The Drama, Feenie, Bratworth, Dahlia, and Doug (Dahlia's ex-boyfriend from Turnabout Memories) get the spots. Mia is the TA, so she gets the role of co-counselor for Kristoph. Phoenix flexes his bluffing skills with a little encouragement from Mia and wins the case.
- This one is just for fun: Larry Butz is Brooke Windam. Instead of being accused of killing Cindy Stone, like in the first game, he has a sugar mommy he gets accused of murdering.
And that is as far as I've gotten. Feel free to share your ideas with me about this AU, I love reading stuff like that. Thanks for reading :)
YES I THINK ABOUT THIS AT WORK CONSTANTLY DHHDNFNFN
There are a few great animatics, but other than that, I agree there isn't NEARLY enough Ace Attorney/Legally Blonde AU content.
