These two expressions mean more than any other character’s, because they are the only two people who have consistently held healthy and balanced views on marriage. They are also the only two of the kids who have discussed commitment, without using it as a form of snare or as a solution to a problem. Even Blaine’s ring to Kurt was cut out (but still counted as canon) precisely because it wasn’t used for dramatic effect. It was exactly what such a gift should be: non-materialistic, purely spontaneous, and without seeking any return. There was no further agenda than Blaine loving Kurt and not knowing how to monetize that feeling - and instead pouring his heart into something he made himself. Kurt’s joy and pride in wearing it was a testament to how intimately Blaine knew Kurt’s wishes. [Contrast that with Rachel’s reaction to Finn’s sow pig.]

Even before dating, they were talking animatedly about the ‘sanctity’ of marriage and how it is on one hand so staunchly denied to whole sections of society, and yet so often flagrantly ignored by the people who are allowed it. Since then, they’ve proven to be on exactly the same page when it comes to commitment, and to the power of words like ‘I promise’ and ‘I will always’, and especially ‘I will never’.

All of which they are watching two teenagers entering into, knowing that Finn and Rachel have barely been able to figure out if they even want to be with each other or not over the past 2 and a half years. Regardless of if they will end up together anyway, marriage should be taken far more seriously than this and never rushed.

Considering Blaine’s wish in the group circle, and Kurt’s deep introversion when asked to consider Blaine potentially proposing, we know exactly what they are thinking:

“One of our number tried to kill himself the other day because we are not afforded basic human rights and bodily protection, let alone legal equality with heterosexuals. And yet here is another straight couple, rushing into marriage as a form of emotional insurance, and just because they technically can. They know they don’t need to and probably shouldn’t. But they can, so they will.”

It’s a slap in the face to what Kurt and Blaine believe personally, and an insult to the kind of change they have both consistently and passionately stated they are fighting for.

^ I think people disregard marriage when it comes to Klaine simply because we know that they both intend to move to New York and they can legally married there. But they still can’t get married there. There are still 42 states that they can’t get married it. Yes, they could get married, but if they ever came home, it would’t be valid. We know they want to get married some day, but it’s not at all something that they take as lightly as, not just Finn and Rachel, but everyone does.
