I think the best part about tonight’s ep for me was Blaine’s characterization, and Klaine’s growth. What does Blaine Anderson do when he gets scared? What is his consistent reaction every single time he feared losing something he loves?
Self-sabotage.
And tonight he jumped right into doing exactly that. Giving up what he had a passion for, going with something safe that couldn’t hurt him as badly if he failed… and almost throwing away his future career and happiness in a career.
He didn’t get that far this time, though. Why? Because for the first time we got to see Kurt recognizing Blaine’s sudden and abrupt about-face behavior for what it truly was—fear. And Kurt forced him to open up and talk about it, confront it, and realize no matter what happened, it would all be okay.
It was like the point of Blaine’s plot was not about going to NYADA, it was about how Kurt has learned to recognize the signs, and Blaine has learned to open up and talk to his fiance about his fears.
