Blaine's parents: Fanon vs Canon
I find that the fandom tends to make Blaine more angsty than he is on the show. We’ve had this idea about how utterly unaccepting his parents are ever since his talk with Burt in Sexy. Blaine’s parents are rarely mentioned in canon but even before Shooting Star, I’ve always felt like we jumped the gun with our theories. I think Blaine’s parents are more loving and accepting than we give them credit for:
#ooooh good post#*u*#blaine meta#though i guess from the list of all the parental things we know about blaine's#they could also be the kind who actually really do care about their kids#but neglect to let the kid know that#hence leading the kid to feel neglected/craving attention#they could either be really good parents who have no idea how to deal with the fact that their boy is *blaine*#who is his own way is just as unique and blindsidingly *different* as kurt#except instead of doing a burt hummel and pushing forth to try to get him#they just sit back and quietly stare at him with bewildered love#or they are the kind who never really had much time for their kids and while they love them#dont really bother *showing* it much until something cataclysmic like near death happened to jolt them#i've always been on option two.#but honestly the ~abusive parents~ trope is so not a possibility when blaine.#it just doesnt work with who he is. just like a homophobic burt hummel wouldnt work with kurt.#idek#tag vomit#IGNORE~!!
