REAL WOMEN ARE PEOPLE WHO IDENTIFY AS WOMEN WHETHER THEY HAVE CURVES OR NOT
I’m a Kurt stan, I’m not a “Kurt stan” I’m an actual Kurt stan who actually cares about Kurt and doesn’t ship him with every man other than Blaine just because I hate Blaine. I love Blaine. I love what’s he’s done for Kurt. I don’t love him with people who sexually assaults him then ties him up and robs him. I don’t love him with people who stalks him into joining his self-named Glee Club then kicking him out because Kurt got engaged to the person he loves. I don’t love him with people who bullied him and tried blinding him because he was dating the guy the other person was attracted to. I don’t love him with people who bullied him out of his school because he was in love with Kurt and he was closeted, after stealing his first actual kiss away. I love him with the guy who makes him feel loved. The guy who knows when he’s hurting Kurt and apologizes. The guy who goes all out to prove to Kurt he loves him, even when Kurt knows. The guy who wants to spend the rest of his life with him because he loves him that much. The person who gave the definition of “Soulmate” while proposing to Kurt. The one who goes above and beyond expectations just for Kurt. And if haters (“Kurt stans”) really want to hate then go ahead because I know that Kurt’s better off with Blaine then any of those other shitty ships you ship him with.
I even think Blaine stans are more of Kurt stans then “Kurt stans” (Just to add to my thoughts)
I try to make it general practice to be respectful of other people’s opinions and realize that hey, sometimes I’m just going to disagree with people and that’s cool and it doesn’t make them wrong or a bad person. But frankly, there’s a lot of shit that I see in fandom that crosses the line from things I should respect over to ignorant and offensive or at best thoughtless. And a lot of it has made a frequent and gross appearance today.
So here’s my list of things people are wrong about.
i think the two most important rules of fandom are
I started reading and was like “what the actual fuck” before reaching the end
bless you
stop blaming fandoms with millions of people when its like 3 people that pissed you off.
I hate the word homophobia.
It is not a phobia.
You are not scared.
You are just an asshole.
Okay, how about another over-analyzing ramble of mine?
rambling about DWS and klaine and things and stuff, mostly about glee’s writing and how i’m not sure how to take things
It occurs to me that “Not the Boy Next Door” is the first song or part Kurt’s sung (other than “Pink Houses” which I try to block from my memory) that was originally sung by a man. Not in terms of group numbers where he gets a line, but when it comes to Kurt-centric songs where he’s either lead or dueting with someone. The boy’s done Madonna, Dionne Warwick, Gaga, Whitney, Pink, Hey Monday has a female lead singer, and when it comes to songs sung by characters we’ve got Evita, Fanny Bryce, Glinda, Elphaba, Mama Rose (twice!)…
And I’m not sure how I feel about that. I mean, I’ve been wanting him to do songs that better suit his range for a long time, and I am usually the first one to jump on him for only ever being allowed to sing girl songs when Blaine can sing a mix of things. But at the same time, it kind of bothers me. He can’t win anything or succeed in any way when he sings songs traditionally done by women, to the point where that’s Jesse’s only criticism of his “Some People,” and he couldn’t play Tony because of it…and the only way for him to succeed is to sing a song done by a guy, whether he necessarily wants to or not.
yeah, I mean I didn’t know that about the TBND, but it’s sad to think that after all people put him through for wanting to sing girl songs and being different from others, now in the most important audition of his life (or up until now anyway) he’s singing a song sung by a guy to get in the school he likes.
I mean I kinda expected that after the whole horror that was IAU, they’d actually pick a song like the ones he used to sing, a song originally sung by a woman, and he would be so amazing and brilliant at it that the NYADA scout won’t have anything but great things to say, and that would be a point of the show where the viewer would think “oh, this is where he can be himself and be appreciated for who he is, and not being made fun of and humiliated”
If the male song he’s singing was a blatant attempt to seem more masculine then I would completely agree with you both and be raging over it — but the point of the song is the exact opposite. The song is him declaring: “I’m not sorry for just being me.” Literally. It’s all about how he is not at all the traditional ideal of a man, and how he is completely unapologetic about it. It’s a big high-kicking celebration of his uniqueness, even more than Greatest Star was. So I’m not going to get hung up on what gender the original performer was, because Not the Boy Next Door might as well have been written for him.
