Kurt isn’t anywhere near ready to open his eyes when he’s roused from sleep by his ringing phone. He groans and gropes blindly, hand glancing of his lamp and alarm clock before it finally closes around his cell, and he clears his throat briefly before answering.

“Hello?” he croaks, ninety per cent sure the voice on the other end will be Blaine, and already thinking up a semi-polite way to tell him to call back later.

“Kurt?”

“Mm?” Kurt yawns, unable to fend off the little shiver of delight that hits him at the sound of Blaine’s voice.

Blaine swallows audibly, several beats of hesitation following in which Kurt rolls over and buries his face in his pillow, then finally says, “I think I just adopted a mouse.”
