A/N: I started writing this when information about “Paul” was first being leaked. There was discussion on my dash about what might happen at the Wemma wedding and this idea just wouldn’t leave me alone. Let’s just say that I had expected alotlittle more from the “heart to heart” in Glee, Actually so it strays from canon somewhat past 409. Warning for angst. Thanks to Claire and Ann for looking it over for me.
“May I have this dance?”
Kurt’s breath catches in his throat and his mind immediately flashes back to the last time he heard those familiar words. The same beautiful boy with his hand stretched out to him now, that same tentative, but sweet, smile. It seems like such a long time ago that Blaine saved him on the dance floor at the McKinley prom, and these are much different circumstances, but his stomach still flips the same way it did the first time.
“Yes,” Kurt says a little breathlessly, returning the smile. He chides himself for the rush he feels as he takes Blaine’s hand. Clearing his throat, he says more firmly, “yes, you may.”
Blaine leads him to a spot in the corner of the dance floor. He can feel a few eyes on them from their friends who are already dancing and he doesn’t miss the smiles the girls try to hide behind their dance partners. But when he looks over Blaine’s shoulder to where Rachel is sitting, her expression is much different than the other’s. She looks worried. She’s the only one here that knows the truth and she seems to be trying to tell him with her eyes that he needs to be honest. She’s right, he knows she is, as much as he doesn’t want to admit it. But it’s just one dance. A dance with an old friend. A friend that he dated for over a year. A friend that he still loves.
No big deal.
