Abso-fekking-lutely mesmerizing.
All words that described General Shaak Ti.
ARC-27-5555, A.K.A Fives had these thoughts run through his head as he saw the elder Togruta Jedi step off the transport with Commander Shield, Commander of the Kamino Defence Forces at her side. Back when he was a Cadet, Fives had harbored a small (Ha!) crush on her. Who could blame him? The woman was always understanding, willing to listen, talk, or just be company. Hell, he’d be thoroughly surprised if there was a single brother who didn’t harbor a crush on the sapphire-eyed Jedi when they were a Cadet.
Of course, the ARC trooper thought that the silly attachment had fizzled out when he left the stormy world for the Rishi Outpost. Apparently it had only been buried deep down, because now it was back with a vengeance.
Fives blinked into his HUD as it beeped softly, warning him of an elevated heart rate nearing dangerous levels. He exhaled softly in the quiet of his sealed helmet. Surely she doesn’t affect me that much…
Everything became so much more vivid in her presence. He could feel the scratches and pockmarks on his DC-15A blaster carbine perfectly, even through his gloves. He could see the ever slight rise and fall of Shield’s chest-plate as he breathed. And of course, the radiance that was Shaak Ti. He could see the slight color differences in her crimson colored skin. It wasn’t all one shade. He could make out the slight inclines and declines that showed her montrals weren’t quite as uniform as they appeared.
Fives blinked out of his thoughts and walked over to Rex, General Ti, and Shield as the Captain called him.
“I’m gonna go help Commander Shield sort the shinies. Keep an eye General Ti will you? We don’t want a repeat of the Kenobi Incident.”
Fives saw Shield’s helmet tilt amusedly at Rex when he spoke the Commander’s title.
“Of course, Sir.” Sure as hell don’t need a repeat of the Kenobi Incident.
Rex snorted as Fives added the title at the end, then turned to the Togruta. “General Ti, this is Fives, one of my best ARC troopers.” Rex gestured at Fives. “He’ll be your guard detail while you’re here.”
Shaak smiled, and Fives nearly became a puddle of trooper on the duracrete.
“It’s a pleasure, Fives.”
Despite the happiness hearing her smooth lilting voice again brought him, he couldn’t suppress the pang of sadness her greeting caused him. She didn’t remember him. It was understandable, considering she met hundreds, thousands even, of troopers on Kamino. Didn’t mean he wasn’t sad. But he saluted anyway, mustering his best ‘Ready to do my part’ voice, and spoke. “Likewise, General Ti. At your service.”
The Jedi’s nonexistent brows furrowed, but she nodded. “As you were.”
Fives relaxed as she said that, though he was still a little on edge. Rex and Shield walked off, Shaak watching them go.
When they turned a corner, the Togruta Jedi turned back to the ARC, her eyes softening. “Hello again, Fives. It’s been a long time.”
Fives almost dropped his blaster. No way. No kriffing way.
“General Ti, you.. you remember me?”
Shaak’s shoulders shook slightly as she laughed. Fives took immense pride in the fact he made her laugh.
“Of course I do. I remember all of you. How could I forget such incredible beings?”
Fives felt a comfortable warmth spread through him at that. “I.. it’s going to see you again, General.”
The sapphire eyed woman smiled. “You too, Fives. And you made ARC trooper. I’m so proud. I’m sure Bric and El-Les would be too.”
I’m dead. I’m dead. I have to be. It’s impossible that she’s here. It’s impossible she’s smiling at me like that.
Shaak laughed again. “Calm down Fives. You aren’t dead. It’s very endearing that you think of me like that.”
Fives stiffened. “Did I say all of that out loud?”
The ARC sighed, laughing awkwardly. “I… ah. Can you just ignore that General? I apologize profusely.”
A glance to the right allowed him to see Rex and Shield coming back. Apparently they’d been talking for longer than he thought.
Fives’ jaw dropped as Shaak turned and climbed aboard the transport with Shield, but not before shooting him one last smile.
His crush on Shaak Ti was scandalous.
And that was exactly why Fives embraced it.
Ok, this was rushed because I had things to do, so it isn’t particularly well written, but here’s Fives Week prompt one!
