Hi there! You've stumbled upon my blog, where I post about various cartoons that I'm into. Right now, that's mainly The Owl House. If you're on this blog, you should have seen all Owl House episodes up to date. Every other cartoon I post about will have a spoiler warning in bold at the top of the post and/or in the tags. Hope you like it here!

Although I don’t recognize exactly where Eda is standing in this screenshot from the promo, I believe that she is outside or near the Emperor's Castle. The orange-gold colors and angular designs of the background resemble the setting of Eda and Lilith’s showdown in Agony of a Witch.

Also, Eda’s surrounded by vines that resemble ones made with plant magic. Although these vines could have come from anywhere, I can’t help but notice that similar vines surround Raine in this new end credits shot:

Taking both of these things into account, I’m thinking that Eda will have a battle with someone outside of the Emperor's Castle that parallels her season 1 fight with Lilith, except this time, she will be attempting to rescue Raine instead of Luz. Who that someone may be, I’m not sure; unless I’m mistaken, we don’t currently know much about any witch in the plant coven besides Willow, who I doubt would be fighting Eda. But regardless, the idea of a showdown that mirrors AOAW is intriguing and a little frightening. Depending on how hard the writers lean into the parallels, perhaps Raine will be freed, but in order to make that happen, Eda will have to make yet another grave sacrifice.

Most Emotional Moment?

Hoo boy, there are plenty of candidates.

How about in Understanding Willow with the reason behind Willow and Amity's friendship ending being revealed, and Amity's explanation and new resolve to not let Boscha and her crew pick on Willow anymore?

Or the climactic witches' duel and aftermath in Agony of a Witch, where Eda sacrifices the last of her magic to save Luz and succumbs to the curse, seemingly once and for all?

Or in Young Blood, Old Souls, where Luz and Eda express their love for each other and Luz believes she's watching Eda being raised up to her death?

Or in Separate Tides, where Luz expresses her guilt and belief that she's a burden, and Eda thoroughly debunking that?

Or in Echoes of the Past, where King finally realizes the fiction of his supposed backstory and subsequent breakdown? (We'll call this one the runner-up. Alex Hirsch's finest performance, I swear.)

Or in Keeping Up A-fear-ances, where Gwen realizes the harm she's caused both of her daughters and her newfound resolve to do right by them?

Or in Through the Looking Glass Ruins, where Luz and Amity tell each other they do stupid things around each other? (Shortly followed by the kiss!)

Or at the end of Luz's bit in Hunting Palismen, where Eda drops the Palistrom wood in Luz's lap and assures her they can start carving when she's ready?

Or in Eda's Requiem, with the performance of the titular requiem, Raine assuring Eda her kids still need her more than she realizes, "You know I can't stand an audience," and King surprising Eda with the name change? (Wow, there was a lot in this one!)

Or in Knock, Knock, Knockin' On Hooty's Door, with:

  • King's fear of never finding out what he is and anger at his dad for leaving him?
  • Just...the entirety of Eda's dream sequence, culminating in finally making peace with the Owl Beast?
  • A heartbroken Amity believing she was just rejected by Luz in the most painful way possible, and Luz horrified to realize she dun goofed?

(Sorry, I was very tempted to gush about the entirety of K³OHD again)

All good, emotional moments worthy of mention. For my money, though? It's gotta be near the end of Yesterday's Lie with the exchange between Luz and Camila in the rain.

You can feel Camila's fear about Luz being in a strange world where she can't be reached. ("Is this the only way I can touch you?" still gets me) You can also tell how hurt she feels when she believes she pushed Luz away to the point of escaping to this strange world, while it's also clear that Luz never meant it that way, and in fact Camila is the main reason she's trying to get back in the first place.

I imagine many people will cite this episode and scene for this particular day, and with good reason. This scene still haunts me in the best possible way, and I very much want them to get to a point where they can start healing.

Oh, another honorable mention from the same episode is Vee detailing her troubled past and Camila accepting her as she is.

Whew! That was another long one! I like it when I have a lot to say. Hopefully other people do, too.

Owltober Day 17: Most Emotional Moment

“And Luz, thank you for being in my life.”

This was the first moment in the series that made me cry. I’m gonna copy my reasoning from an Owltober post I made last year, I don’t think I can top it.

“This line socked me in the gut when I least expected it. Eda was cursed to turn into the owl beast around age 16-17, maybe? And it’s implied (or maybe it isn’t and this is just what I think) that after she was cursed she either ran away or got kicked out of her home, meaning it’s been just Eda, King, and Hooty for over 20 years. I’m not sure she was unhappy, but she was lonely. And then suddenly, Eda became a parental figure for Luz, a drastic change in her life. She suddenly had someone to care about. I knew subconsciously that Eda loved Luz, but hearing her say “thank you for being in my life” still shocked me somehow. Eda never likes to get emotional, and she’s telling Luz how much she cares about her while she’s thinking that she’ll probably never get to see Luz again. It’s so sweet and so sad, and it’s definitely the most emotional moment in The Owl House for me.”

Owltober Day 29: Wanted Criminals

Okay, let’s talk about this for a minute. Emperor Belos claimed that Eda’s petrification was the petrification to happen in 30 years, but that’s clearly not true. These three offenders were shown to be alive in Agony of a Witch and were dead in Young Blood, Old Souls. Belos has likely been killing witches in secret this entire time.

And you know what? I think this is probably common knowledge. Witches are disappearing from the streets and are never seen again. There’s no way that people haven’t picked up on that. I believe that everyone nods and plays along when Belos says that he hasn’t petrified anyone in 30 years, but most witches have picked up on the fact that he’s lying. My point is, the Boiling Isles is a dictatorship where executions are routinely held but the citizens are afraid to admit that they know about them. A lot of people know that Belos is evil, but they don’t want to get petrified, so they say nothing. This shit is scary.

Owltober Day 28: Palismans

Y’know, I should have thought about the fact that today’s prompt was palismans before I poured out all of my thoughts on palismans here, here, here, and here over the last couple of days. I’m running out of things to say about palismans. Oops.

Anyways, remember in Agony of a Witch when Belos cracks open a palisman and consumes some sort of flowing gas that is inside it? And remember Dana Terrace’s said in her AMA that palismans must be carved from a special type of wood, and then said “that is... if that precious resource is still around?” What if those two things are connected?

If Emperor Belos needs to regularly kill palismans and consume their magic, then he may have people whose job is specifically to make palismans for this purpose. Those people would burn through palisman wood very quickly, diminishing the supply of an already scarce resource. Because of Belos, younger witches-in-training may not be able to make palismans at all. That’s sad, but I’m more interested in hearing what will happen to Belos when he runs out of palisman juice to consume. Will he die? Will he lose his ability to do magic, making him significantly easier to fight? Will he send out teams of Emperor's Coven members to try to capture palismans?

I don’t think Dana would have put that cryptic line in her AMA if it didn’t mean something important. (Then again, she did fool us all with the whole Creepy Luz thing.) The Boiling Isles could very well run out of palisman wood, and that could be big for Belos and potentially the entire cast.

So now that Amity hurt her leg, can we consider her officially a part of the Boo Boo Buddies Club?

Now I have this adorable image in my head of Luz putting one of her colorful bandaids on Amity’s cast and saying “Now we’re boo boo buddies!” while Amity just goes fdjhssajhfhvksdyfkudfh

c-can he not feed himself? I swear every new fact about him raises more questions than it answers.

oh my god, this is a horrifyingly good point that i had not considered until this moment

why the fuck can’t he feed himself?

what exactly does feeding him entail?

The line in the entire series that makes me hate Lilith more than any other line:

“And I have the power to remove it, if you would just let me explain.”

Bitch... you went over to her house and played a game of grudgby. You had more than enough time to explain. Eda was always willing to listen to you. Do not act like she didn’t let you explain. You never tried to explain. You made a selfish mistake and then you were too cowardly to confess. Don’t try to act like any of this was Eda. This was all you, Lilith.
