this is halloween, everybody make a scene

frank sneaks in through karen’s window, but he’s the one in for a surprise when he gets a good look at her costume. a crack!y little halloween fic.

He’d figured she wouldn’t be home.

That’s why he doesn’t bother with knocking. It’s Halloween, and he doubts that she’s spending it sitting at home and doling out candy. That’s what Frank tells himself, anyway, when he’s scaling his way up the fire escape toward her window.

When he finds her place in relative darkness, he tells himself that it’s not disappointment he’s feeling, either.

A group of trick-or-treaters passes underneath, and Frank waits them out before jimmying her window open. The adults are in matching green track suits – he’s been seeing a lot of those, actually – and they’ve got their kids dressed as whatever superheroes happen to be “in” these days, which Frank can’t say he knows much about.

At least there are no mini Daredevils in sight.

He slides through Karen’s window, and tries not to think about what Lisa would have been wearing tonight, and little Frank Junior. Because the truth of the matter is that if Frank Junior had wanted to put on a red suit, and a mask with those stupid red horns, Frank would’ve let him. Not only that, Frank knows he would’ve been proud.

And Lisa, maybe after she grew out of her dinosaur phase, would’ve looked up to someone like Karen. Someone who’s a superhero in her own right. Someone who’s—

Rey grew up on a backwater sand planet I DOUBT she knows the name of the weird emperor dude that got shivved a while back, PLUS she’s the resistances golden girl I doubt she’d be comfortable asking who tf palpatine is, she’d be too embarrassed. She probably doesn’t even remember his name. And it’s a weird sounding word so

Ben: ur a palpatine

Rey: bless u?

Rey: I don’t know what “a palpatine“ is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask
