Hello yes of course, it’s not a problem
And you can do whatever you want to it’s not like I can forbid you doing something the question should be “is it okay/respectful to headcanon them as LGBTQ+” and the answer is yes it is just please remember not to make them your representation if you are not Latino (I explained it more detailed in my other posts)

hello I would say yes because being Catholic is an important part of being Colombian and Encanto characters are Catholic. I believe that if Encanto characters weren’t Catholic the movie would look completely different
The same thing is about any other religion than Catholicism and atheism too of course

So, one thing I've noticed is that a lot of people in Encanto's fandom like to Headcanon Bruno and Dolores as autistic or say that they are 'autistic coded' (when I think about the way they both acted in the movie I will admit that it would make some sense, especially in Dolores' case with her sensitive hearing)
I was just a little curious about how you, a native Colombian fan of the film and the characters, feel about those types of headcanons,,, if you're comfortable answering..
I like those headcanons as long as people don’t make cultural things justification to their headcanons, like some of them did with Bruno’s knock knock knock on wood, Dolores’s “squeaks” and Camilo snapping his fingers - all of these are Colombian things and people were saying that they do it because they have ticks and like no they do it because they are Colombian. So as long as the headcanon doesn’t erase the cultural aspects I think it’s totally okay
reminder: if you want to write a fanfic, make a cosplay, create an original character or some headcanons etc etc about Encanto and you want to stay respectful do not ask latinos how to do it. ask Colombians and Colombians only

You are right kind of right about Luisa but in Colombians/Latin families and in general in our country there is some hierarchy (I don’t know if that’s a proper word) which puts older people higher than the young ones so for example Luisa could be the president of Encanto but if an older than her woman would want something from her she would do it and refusing to do it is considered highly rude. Okay maybe this example with president is a bit too much but you get what I mean. We are taught to respect people who are older from us. Maybe it’s also a religious thing? I don’t know but you are right it was annoying especially that all of the villagers constantly wanted something from Luisa

I literally stated multiple times that people can make LGBT headcanons in Encanto just remember to stay respectful and not make it about yourself if you are not Colombian. I do not have a problem with gay Isabela for example I have a problem with white people and non Colombian/Latino people in general headcanoning her as gay and make it their representation. Hi, I really enjoy looking through your posts and learning about Colombian culture since I wasn't previously very familiar with it. I was wondering why there is a very popular headcanon that Bruno and/or the Madrigals are Catholic since I never saw anyone explain why. Sorry if this comes off as rude, I'm just genuinly curious.
hey that’s because they live in Colombia and most of us are Catholic and also there is a church in Encanto and the priest so it’s canon that they are Catholic!
and also when Pedro and Alma met they are celebrating Día de las velitas and it’s a Catholic holiday
Novena de Aguinaldos are prayers we do in Colombia from 16th December to 24th December and we do it with our neighbours, every prayer can take place in different home, then we spend more time together sometimes we eat something, drink
So now imagine villagers coming to Casita, praying with los Madrigal then just spending time together. And then los Madrigal coming to other villagers’ houses and them the other families being so happy and excited that the novena is taking place in their house
I feel like Bruno has always loved it also before he left to live in the walls. And then when when he left this was the one thing he missed the most. When prayers were taking place in Casita he was always praying with the others and obviously only Dolores knew. I also feel like Dolores would often find an excuse not to go to the novenas to other villagers and she would just go to Bruno to pray with him. And then when Bruno came back the one thing what he couldn’t wait for was Novena de Aguinaldos
so yeah that’s it I just really really love to think about it
thinking a LOT about Bruno and Catholicism and saints. a LOT. i feel like he would have a particular devotion to Saint Lucy, because she unofficially is patron of divination/prophecies.

A thought on the doors. Do they change in appearance as the character grows up? They'd have to, right? Just imagining Bruno at the age of 12 or something having his friends around and explaining "Yes, that ominous looking adult is me." Or Camilo being an adult and still going into the door with a little boy on it? The house is magic, yes?
yeees I definitely think they change but also when there is this scene with photos of other gift ceremonies the doors have them looking like they look during the movie even though they all are 5 when they get their gifts maybe it was just a mistake or something like that?
anyway I definitely think they change and even if it’s not canon I headcanon that they change
I had the craziest dream tonight where the Madrigals where the Smurfs and the blonde soldier from Wreck-it Ralph (I think her name is Sergeant Calhoun?) was Gargamel
and the blonde caught Dolores so the rest of Madrigals were organising a rescue action but I don’t know how it ended because I woke up
So I think Bruno loves Christmas. He loves the atmosphere, he loves praying the novena and in general praying with his family, he loves the Christmas dinner
And when he left he was still celebrating it. When the rest of the family was eating the Christmas dinner together he was sitting behind the walls and eating with them, when they were praying he was praying with them, when they were singing he was singing with them (well he was more like whispering to himself) - obviously no one knew, only Dolores
So she started visiting him on Christmas. After the Christmas dinner she was coming to him, they were eating all of the leftovers, praying together and singing you. And she was doing it ever year. And Bruno loved that
so yeah that’s it I got myself into the Christmas mood after I read that there may be an Encanto Christmas special

Dolores - she would be that type of person who carries a sanitizer everywhere she goes she would also wear double masks I kind of feel like she would panic a lot
Camilo - he wouldn’t really care, he would often forget his mask, he would love online classes tho
Mirabel - she wouldn’t like wearing a mask but she would always wear one because of Julieta, she would love online classes too but only to some time, then she would start to miss going to school
Luisa - she would be that kind of person who thinks there is no way she could get sick because she is just so vital so healthy so strong etc etc but she would always wear a mask (also kind of because of Julieta)
Isabela - she would be responsible about it, always wear a mask, carry a sanitizer but in contrast to Dolores her attitude towards it would be rather normal and healthy
Bruno - well I think he would panic but also he would be extremely happy because he doesn’t like leaving the house and in the global pandemic he could just stay at home all the time and his reason when somebody asks would be “you know we are in the global pandemic I prefer not to risk”
Julieta - the most responsible of all of them of course, she wouldn’t hesitate to get a vaccination, always wear a mask. she would also give the mask away to the people who can’t afford it and she would in general be really helpful
Agustín - he would be just like Julieta, really helpful etc, he wouldn’t really believe it’s that serious but he would never say it out loud
Antonio - he would miss going to school a lot
Pepa - she wouldn’t really care, she would always wear a mask obviously, she would remember about keeping the safe distance but that’s all
Félix - same as Pepa I think
