Forest Park Performances are held daily from Spring through Fall in an outdoor amphitheater. These performing chimps ride bicycles, ponies, and do acrobatics. They have many times been featured on television and in the movies.

Oofie, shown here clearing a hurdle and barrel on roller skates, is a “local boy who made good.” He was born at the St. Louis Zoo on May 6, 1945. His mother, Lady, a retired star of the Zoo’s Chimpanzee Show, rejected him at birth. The infant ape was taken to the home of a Zoo keeper where was cared for almost two years. His one word vocabulary, “oof”, suggested his name. Oofie has been in the Chimpanzee Show since 1948.
