Ohy, finally getting this out of my head! °˖✧◝(￣O￣)◜✧˖°

A little thought on how the bois could have saved themselves in the end of the movie turned up in a whole comic, and I said why not, you know, like always. It’s gonna be messy, start very derpy and maybe the faces won’t even look like the actors, but if I wait till the moment I make photographic quality drawings then this may never see the light of day, and that bugs me waaaaay more. So I’m getting it out in the open, and who knows maybe in the future I’ll get back at it again, fix what’s to be fixed and color it too, but at least let’s start with not letting it rot in the sketches folder.

I’m obviously taking some personal liberties when it comes to the law of physics of the scene (*rethinks about the sense of law of physics and the magical wall of water in the same context* °shakes head and goes on*) but thankfully in the next parts it’ll all be more “natural” and less hypothetical.

Can you guess what’s gonna happen next? 😏

I don't understand why they didn't all just gang up on Sparrow, and as you so aptly put it, pummel him to the ground. I think my version of honour is very different to the Captain's. I would definitely butt heads with him all the time.🤣 Maybe the Crew would realise I'd make a better Captain and simply de-throne him.😜😏 I already got the title nice and ready.

I was going to draw the boys in modern Spanish navy attire then i remembered a meme that i saw forever ago of some Spanish soldiers wearing really slutty uniforms? And i did that instead. (Moss, Lesaro, Armando, Santos)

But then i didn’t include any imagery like symbols on medals or hats so it kinda just looks like i drew them as sexy firemen strippers?? uuhhh. 

I forgot to give Santos the suspenders ;u; sorry buddy

A little behind the scene of Birthday Hula Dance, or as I like to call this 

“The Fourteenth Man”

…Because for some inexplicable reason (which I’ve long stopped looking for, to be honest 🤣), of all the things my mind could have focused on, it decided to ponder on the number of the men in @tockamybeloved ‘s scene.

Basically it went: 

“They’re 10 on the beach, and then Cortez and Lesaro join them, so they are now 12, and with El Capitán they’ll be a total of 13…”

And so my higher brain functions or whatever stood for them went down the drain to the magical world of you remember when historically people used to be heavily superstitious about any gathering with 13 people?  From there my hand just slipped and drew whatever it wanted 😂😂😂

I totally envision Cortez and Santos to be the ones behind this plan, and man! don’t you hate it when at the last moment there’s that one teeny weeny detail that puts the whole operation in jeopardy? As someone who often got trips and parties cancelled for this very reason, I feel that sort of desperation.

My one grudge with these is that I realized only when all was done that I’ve drawn all of decks planks in the wrong direction, as they were meant to be parallel to the direction of ship’s length, and not perpendicular as I’ve have done. Oh well, of all the things I could regret that is totally the best, for I’m very satisfied with how the rest came out 😎

Remember to pour one for poor Officer Cris who had to go and get ill to let me make Magda join, our true hero!

First of all, Cris decided to stick his *what* where?😳 Maybe I shouldn't have been looking at the hula scene for so long. My mind is now permanently in the gutter of Tortuga.😂

I've said it once and I'll say it a hundred times again, the emotions in this comic is so well done and absolutely hilarious!😂😂 I had to fight not to laugh so hard (don't wanna wake up the rest of the family) but I must admit, the sight of Magda being forcibly dragged across deck while Lesaro is distracted by imagined seagulls almost did me in.😂 It was a VERY close-call! Nothing to see there indeed.🤣

I understand the feeling well when the best laid plans slowly start to unravel because someone is sick or cancels. It sucks, so it is good that Magda ööh volunteered to join the party.😏 *Pouring one out for Officer Cris*

I'm so sorry this has no source - perhaps @piratesangel could help us source this magnificent reference?? I know Miguel Magda staunchly insists he is taller than Lieutenant Lesaro, and will fight anyone on it if they say otherwise...😂

Also, I made this once, might be semi helpful as a comparison of the other main PotC 5 characters to el Capitán 😊 (who is 1.81m)

Eight Things I Headcanon About Santos:

1. Officer Santos will never tell you if a dead man can cry or not. He remains silent on the matter, though the others sometimes get into arguments about it.

2. Santos likes crates. He keeps crates stacked in the hold, and Lieutenant Lesaro has told the crew never to touch Santos’ crates.

3. He loves reading poetry. He even took his poetry books with him when he was assigned to La María Silenciosa. Before the curse, he often spent his free time reading them. Days after the ship exploded in the Devil’s Triangle, and the curse brought them back from the dead, he managed to find and save some of his books. It gave him a little hope, amidst the horror of those first few days.

4. Santos is a very placid and calm person; a deep thinker. He doesn’t do ‘small talk’ easily - a fact that Officer Magda, who shares his cabin and despises shallow conversation, appreciates.

5. As the years went by in the Devil’s Triangle, Santos would secretly take his poetry books to a private place onboard La María Silenciosa to read them. But the words soon made his soul ache; words he once loved, now remind him of the life he’s lost. Nowadays, it gets harder and harder to even open them; but he still tries.

6. While Santos is a serious person, to friends who know him well, he will also show an unexpectedly quirky sense of humour - it’s a sign of trust if he is comfortable enough to show this playful side of himself.

7. The first time Santos realised he was falling in love, had been his last time in Spain. It had been the evening of Santiago Apostol (Saint James’ Feast Day), and he had been watching the sunset from the heights of Montjuïc in Barcelona. He and Antonio Moss had climbed the hill together, wanting one last view of the city before they were due to sail again. As the last rays of the sun washed the sky pink and gold, Santos had felt a deep contentment. He had almost turned and said something - almost had the courage to say the halting, uncertain words that had only half-formed in his heart right at that very moment… until Antonio had said, “I think… I think I’m in love with her. I think I’m in love with Gui’s sister.”

8. Santos likes crates. Crates stack neatly. Crates are unobtrusive. No one notices crates. Crates keep precious things hidden. And crates don’t reveal the secrets they contain. Several carefully stacked crates, one on top of another, can hide a man when he doesn’t want to be seen any more. A man can sit there, in the hold behind the crates, and pretend. He can pretend he isn’t cursed; pretend he is still alive and human. When Officer Santos sits there, he pretends his hands aren’t cracked and grey and flaking. He pretends he isn’t trapped for eternity in a living-dead body. He can even close his eyes and pretend he is back on Montjuic, but not for the view. In his mind he is back on that hillside, turning to face Antonio as the pink and gold sunset lights them both, and he is touching a hand, a human hand, to Antonio’s smooth cheek. And he can see it, the shape of Antonio’s mouth parting in surprise as Santos says the words: “Antonio. I think - I’m… I think I’m in love with you.”

And no one sees the dead man behind the crates, or the way he carefully wipes his cracked, grey cheeks dry before he leaves.
