Can I serve you a bruised, tired and most determined Athena in these dire times? ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
Once again inspired by @intricatecaprice ‘s fanfic Bella Muerte (I swear I’ll have to pay the rent for all the time I spent in between your words 😆), a little tribute of mine featuring the protagonist, the unknown main character called Athena (sometimes even Edelina, but mostly Señorita Athena by those pesky Spaniards) caught mid-escape in a moment of contemplation in Capitán Salazar’s cabin.
This has been quite challenging, considering we purposefully do not have a complete description of both Athena and Lady Stanhope’s appearance, and the Lady’s characteristics usually get mentioned only as they’re completely different from Athena’s but not always without further elaboration, so this was the jigsaw puzzle I found myself with. Needless to say I went there and re-read the whole fic to be sure eheheh 😂 Also I “took advantage” of this piece to try a different method of coloring when it comes to the shadows, whether it’s good or not I leave to you the verdict. For me it has been a good exercise as I got to draw broken glass and the sea - a first time for everything, eh - and once more fallen in love with La María - god I adore this ship!.
On another hand lo siento I’ve taken some liberties here and there, as when it comes to the shattered windows (I just couldn’t imagine how they could have survived the explosion in the Triangle, and repairing them while having never made port seemed very very difficult even for Bracero), Athena’s dress (I’ve done my research, I swear, but still if this wasn’t even a bit close to what you imagined for her mea culpa) and most obviously Athena’s appearance itself. 🙇
And speaking of Bracero, re-reading got me the wildest idea that on La María surely there must be a tacit agreement among the crew to never lose sight of said deckhand because with all the times El Capitán keeps tapping his sword on the decks or thrusting it into the walls, I’d bet the guy is nothing but thirsty for Armando’s blood! Like, every time he and Athena have a conversation, all the Officers go and take hold of Bracero to stop him from barging into the cabin and give Salazar a piece of mind 🤣🤣🤣
I’m trying to repair the ship, can you stop hitting her with your sword for five minutes?!? ヾ(`ヘ´)ノ゙
But enough with my rambling, for my part I’m satisfied and I hope you people liked this. Without further ado, here we go onto the hula at once 🌴🥥✨

OMG THIS IS AMAZING
You are so so talented @acidyellowlava 😍😍
The colours! The emotion! The details!
I think you've captured Athena perfectly! She really looks like a lady but there's something else there too. Something under her skin. I don't know what it is exactly but somehow you've captured that duality. Also can we all take a moment to apprentice the details on that dress?!?! Absolutely gorgeous 😍😍😍🙌 Not to mention ThE HaiR🥺💖💖💖💖 The bruises!!! 🤯👌
Also you are under arrest for witchcraft, the way you drew the glass and the sea Is Unacceptable. 🔥🔱WITCHCRAFT.🔱🔥The talent. Just blows my mind. How?? Can you draw sea like that? Tell me. It looks so realistic I thought it was a picture.😂😍❤️ (We are not even going to mention the fact that it's your first time doing that, we'll save it for your witch trial)
I cackled so hard at the thought of poor poor Bracero. I can't imagine the struggle of trying to repair a ship with a Capitán that's poking holes in it left and right. I agree with you that the Officers must grab hold of him when the Capitán gets stabby. Otherwise he would have perished long ago at Bracero's hand.😂😂😂
"Stop PUTTING HOLES In My Ship" (honestly at this point it practically is)
*gasp* 🥺 hula time? 💃🌴🥥🌴💃We truly have been blessed. ♪ \(^ω^\ ) ♪
