Sam wishes it was the first time she’s woken up with a pounding headache, dry mouth, and general sensitivity to light and sound. Hangovers were something that only seemed to get worse as she grew older. Raphael whines from the side of the bed, his head near hers. She gives him a loose pat, and the sign that the danger had passed. It was only after his gaze traveled from her side of the bed to the far side did she realize she wasn’t alone. Turning slowly, groaning quietly, she noticed the other body. Again, not entirely an unfamiliar situation for her, unfortunately.
Her hand went to rub at her eyes, clearing them only slightly. It was enough though to notice the shiny metal that now adorned her finger. And past that, even more shiny metal adorning her bed partner.
