Heya Perls, so I had a question since forever. I keep reading all these different opinions on whether River Song is an actual Timelady and I always love your stuff so I would love to hear your opinion.
I think that Melody Pond is something really special and completely unique. She’s her own species, a Human+Timelord. Partly produced by the TARDIS herself.
I mean, ok, Steven Moffat has on more than one occasion stated that she is indeed a Timelady. River has all the characteristics. She was taught and mentored by the Doctor, who graduated from the academy, can regenerate which means that the vortex granted her this gift and not the high council, she has two hearts as they are a requirement for regeneration, she can understand time, is able to manipulate regeneration energy (including her appearance), can notice time distortions and so on.
Still, I don’t think she is a standard Timelady. Nor does she need to be. She’s one in essence because she was created by the vortex, like the very first Timelords of Old. I love that she’s so unique. I wouldn’t classify her as a Gallifreyan Timelady. I’d classify her as River Song.
