BBC Books announce the first official book to accompany the new series of Doctor Who - an illustrated collection of stories about the women of Doctor Who. This September, BBC Books will publish Doctor Who: The Women Who Lived, a beautifully illustrated collection of inspiring tales of the women of Doctor Who. It will be the first official book published to accompany the new series, celebrating Jodie Whittaker’s debut as the Thirteenth Doctor.
"With Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor arriving this autumn, we thought this would be the perfect time to reflect upon the wealth of incredible female characters from Doctor Who’s 55 year history – because there are so many! We hope the stories in this book will inspire a whole new generation of fans and existing fans, too." – Christel Dee (co-author)
“From historical figures such as Agatha Christie and Queen Victoria to fan favourites like Bill Potts and River Song, each woman has made a unique contribution to the world of Doctor Who,” the statement reads. “Whether they’re facing down Daleks or thwarting a Nestene invasion, these women don’t hang around waiting to be rescued – they roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.”
Doctor Who moodboard: Missy/River Song (requested by: @billspiperr)
Why are they so difficult to draw? I’ll be trying to draw them again and again and again. I’ll be trying until picture is good enough.
I hope 13 finds out that Missy was her friend till the end.
I hope that 13 doesn’t get a boring male love interest.
I hope Missy managed to regenerate.
I hope 13 meets Walt Disney
I hope she meets River again
I hope she meets Nardole again.
I hope she meets Bill again.
“Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We’ll tak a cup of kindness yet, For auld lang syne!”

Doctor you started with: 9 - right before 11 became the Doctor - though, technically, I began with Torchwood and had to be convinced I’d enjoy DW more.
Favourite Doctor: 10. His feels are my feels. (+ fellow Aries DT, yasss!)
Favourite Companion: RIVER. Yes, she’s his wife, but a wife is also a companion, who happens to travel with her husband in his TARDIS. So THERE.
Favourite Episode: Every River episode, because everything hurts. But the one I keep watching when needing a short marathon is the 3-parter with 10/Donna, Turn Left. It's epic.
DW OTP: River/Eleven will always be my original OTP, but I’ve always not-so-secretly shipped River/Ten; I wish they’d had more episodes together.
Favourite line/quote: “Next Stop: Everywhere!” (this is engraved on my custom built phone, shhhh)
Favourite character that isn’t the Doctor or a companion: Missy. I love a bad girl, me.
BrOTP: Ten/Donna. I love Tennant and Tate, and Donna appeared so ordinary, yet was actually extraordinary.
Favourite DW fic (if you have one): Not much of a fic reader - ask @ladyohara But there was a Mattex fic written by @mygalfriday that is literally the best fic I’ve read (2x) called “We Walk North Towards No Home”...which, sadly and for reasons, is no longer on AO3.
Favorite DW fanart/blog (if you have one): Look at my reblogs; they’re all such stars! But I get particularly emo when @doctorwho reblogs River things.
If you could pick anyone to be the next Doctor, who would it be?: Contrary to Kingston’s (and some other female fans’) opinion(s), I do want a female Doctor. Missy is AMAZING as the Master, and I think a female Doctor would serve the fandom really well. As to the actor that should play her? It has to be someone I could ship with a female companion, so I pick, in order: Helena Bonham Carter, Thandie Newton, & Emma Thompson. Helen Mirren? Maaaybe (but no). I’m also up for a surprise casting. like Michelle Gomez
If you could pick anyone to be the next companion who would it be? (Why?): Somebody not that well known. Pearl Mackie has been such a gem (pun intended) that I’d like more like her, please.
Favourite fan theory: ...that River Song has multiple wives, as well as numerous husbands.
Other fandoms: I have commitment issues. That I’ve stayed in the DW fandom as long as this blog’s life says it all, really. ;)
I tag: E V E R Y O N E - - You must all do this now and tag me so I can read them. ↫ ...what she said.
“Goodness is not goodness that seeks advantage. Good is good in the final hour, in the deepest pit – without hope, without witness, without reward. Virtue is only virtue in extremis.” This is what he believes, and this is the reason above all I love him – my husband, my madman in a box, my doctor.
River would know though. River always knew.
