I have to say the 8 and River dynamic was fabulous! I wish there was more of it. Whenever she met with 8, River kept her identity hidden with some sort of holographic disguise. When they had adventures together it was often done only through voice or with River wearing a disguise. Their interactions were not overtly flirty nor were they romantic but they really feel so good together. Even if he didn’t know her, I think he knew that she certainly was an equal and treated her that way.
The conversation also confirms that for River this is after the 24 years in Darillium.

so i was minding my business in the autograph line, my main priority being to look away from her every few seconds so as not to alarm her with the staring [LORD ABOVE SHE’S STUNNING]
the guy in front of me had clearly done a photo op with her on friday and brought the picture back to have it signed saturday…
fyi - the first guy you hear speak was her ‘guest handler’ at the con. second fyi - at some point in this, alex and i had already made eye contact when my jaw dropped, which i think is why she ended up apologizing to me lmao. she maybe assumed i was scandalized; i was really just utterly gobsmacked i got to witness her being…..herself. she’s a real gem. <3
