When it comes to RP groups, or individual people, I feel like it’s a case by case basis. There are some really good ones, and some not so good ones. It really just depends on experience, writing ability and communication. I’ve had many good ones in this community! From silly to serious. But I’ve also had some not so good ones either.

When it comes to Tumblr RP’s, The same rules apply, Some Good, Some Bad.
Sometimes they’re very funny! Other times more serious. But there is a certain group of people I am not to pleased with who are roleplaying non-con. Non-con specifically with child characters. And I don’t think that’s called for. At a time it wasn’t even tagged until the users were asked to tag it. Personally, I think you can write about sensitive topics while still being respectful. But over there, not so much. It seems almost fetishized and something that can be laughed off when in reality it can’t. And knowing some of the more personal details with one of their main people, that much is apparent. If you’re going to write something as delicate as child exploitation, please do it with tact and grace. Don’t make it into the butt of a joke. This activity is what gives roleplayers a bad name, and it had temporarily made me reconsider if I even want to be a part of this fandom or not. Thankfully after thinking about it, I’ll be here for a long time to come. But please tag your sensitive topics, and don’t glorify the despicable.

I do not condone the harassment of any people involved and I am keeping everything anonymous. If you see this behavior and it creeps you out or scares you, just block, report, and move on. Don’t harass the users involved.
Again, you can and should be able to write about sensitive topics! I encourage it. Just be respectful and try your hardest to make it that way. I would be a hypocrite if I said you couldn’t. As some of my own Ocs go through things like neglect, bursts of anger, childhood trauma, the horrors of war, and miscarriage/child loss. The last one is something I write as the subject and awareness of that subject means a lot to me and is immensely personal as although I haven’t dealt with it directly, I have dealt with it in my family. And it’s something that deserves to be talked about respectfully and as it is, a tragedy. One of my darkest characters, who not all of you know the full story of, is a bastard son of a certain skeksis who struggles with suicidal thoughts. But I’m doing my absolute best to portray his struggles accurately and with respect once his time comes.

Write what you love, but be respectful. Your actions and words hold a lot more power than you might think.
