Hello! I'm new to recolor, so this might be a dummy question, but how to make add-ons? I have noticed some recolor packages. The swatches are there, but not the mesh. It's just blank, and that's what I'm trying to achieve but failing miserably, or I'm just doing it wrong 😅

this! 😋

Safely Pledging on Patreon

This may have already been made, but I plan on sharing this on my patreon/discord anyway.

I wanted to make this simple guide to let you know what I, as a Patreon creator, can see when you pledge to me, and how you can avoid malicious creators from finding your personal information.

When you pledge to me, I can see the email you used to sign up to the site. I can still see this even if you delete your pledge. I’ve noticed over my time on Patreon that many of my pledges use their real names and even have photos of themselves as their profile pic.

As has been said in other posts, with your email address, full name and picture, I would then very easily be able to track your other social medias and most likely find out more sensitive information about you.

How do I stay safe?

1. Use an email that doesn’t contain your name/date of birth/any personal identifier. You can always set up a different email address if you need to.

2. Do not set your profile picture to a selfie.

3. Do not use your real name as your username.

Basically, just don’t treat Patreon the way you treat Facebook.

Most Sims Patreon creators are not out to dox you if reupload their early access content, I’m personally fucking appalled by this behavior. I wish I didn’t have to make this post and I wish you didn’t have to take these extra steps just to insure your safety online and I apologize on behalf of all sims Patreon creators for this, because you shouldn’t have to.

I can also guarantee that I have never, nor will I ever do anything to track my uploads nor will I do anything will my patron’s email addresses. Anyone is absolutely welcome to check any of my packages and textures!

I use Patreon just as a back up safe site to upload my cc, but others might try to use your information against you. Stay safe! 💖

No download link, but don’t want to risk viruses by turning off your adblocker?

  1. Right click on the page, select “view page source”
  2. In the source code, press F3 to search, then type “raboninco”
  3. This is your download link. Open in new window and download :)

CAREFUL: This link will be full of adfly and link-shorteners! ALWAYS keep your adblocker on, and use “universal bypass” and “skip shorte.st ads” browser extensions!

Click on picture for better resolution.

Hey, can we include your cc in sim downloads/builds/saves (with credit)? Or should we link to individual items?

Hey Nonny,

yes, you may include all my cc in your downloads! :D I personally prefer when I don’t have to look for all the stuff (and often links are dead if it’s an older one x.x) and I want everyone to have the same convenience.

The only thing I request is that the downloads which include my cc must be free of charge, meaning no patreon early access or adfly links etc.

If you’d tag me too, that would be great ;o

Have a nice day!

this is a noob question: how do you add color swatches to CC hair instead of it being a standalone, for example like when you recolor CC hair you add on your natural palette to the hair and not make it a standalone. I'm new to recoloring hair and I hope I make sense. :\

Avatar

Hey @kingwendoline,

it does make sense :) so when you make your recolor file, instead of “Create CAS Standalone” you pick “Add CAS Part Swatch”

I prefer this over the Standalones, because then I have less icons in game. And the recolors still work even if you use “embed cas references” and take out the mesh  ;0

I'm recoloring a LOT of Enrique cc hairs right now and I've got about 90 to go but your tutorial and answers to my questions made it so easy that I can just breeze through! I've never done recolors before but due to the fact that they use base textures it's so not hard at all! -Nonny from the past 2 answered asks xoxo

aww Nonny, this makes me really happy 😊💖 You absolutely have to share them when you’re done!

And yes, omg I love it when hair creators use original EA textures without messing around like new hairlines etc 😁

Hi! I just wanted to ask if there are any extra steps in your tutorial for shades 12/13? The blonde doesn't seem to match the shade you get. What saturation values should be entered? Much love xx

Hey Nonny!

For those two I use the EA swatch #7 (cheese hair) and put the saturation down to -50 (#12) or -30 (#13). If the hair you recolor, have a customized palette (like ModMax where the cheese hair is much warmer yellow) it can turn out differently than if it was the normal EA palette.

I have no solution than just play a bit with the hue, saturation and/or curves until I feel it looks correct. It helps to take a map from another CN hair as reference!

Also thank you so much for recoloring in my palette this makes me so happy 😊💖

Hi! I'm following your color tutorial because your palette is the best and I'm having trouble bc I've never used GIMP. How do you set a hex code value for a layer?

Hi Nonny,

aww thanks a lot! ❤❤ Please tag me in your recolors, so I can reblog them!

I’m not quite sure if I understood you correctly, but here you can change the color according to Hex-Codes:

hi! how do you art breeder your sims? i tried using the website but im lost. it looks so fun!

Hey Nonny!

It is! :D

first, you have to make an account (you can put in a made up email address, since you won't have to confirm), and I guess it’s best if you just follow this tutorial @storiesbyjes2g posted:

it’s all explained there!

Have fun breeding your sims! 🤭

Hi how are you? I need to know how to download your content and install it in my game. Im not a big fan of downloading cc but your creatins are amazing!! Could you give me some help? Thank you!

Hey sweetheart! 💖🥰

thank you so much!!

Hair (new mesh) / Poses

  • On all of my posts you will find a link with “DOWNLOAD”, there you can find my cc. you need to put the files here to show up in game: C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods
  • you can organize your downloads by creating subfolders for types of cc, like “hair”, “skin”, “poses” etc, some also organize by creator names
  • to use poses, you need Andrew’s pose player: download & explanation
  • Don’t forget to activate mods & script mods in your game settings:

Hair (recolors)

  • for all my hair recolors, you will need the original mesh from creators and my recolor. you will find the links in the list. If any of the links are broken, don’t hesitate and pm me & I’ll update the link.

I hope I could help you a little <3 Have a nice day! 💖

some of the best writing advice I’ve ever received: always put the punch line at the end of the sentence.

it doesn’t have to be a “punch line” as in the end of a joke. It could be the part that punches you in the gut. The most exciting, juicy, shocking info goes at the end of the sentence. Two different examples that show the difference it makes:

doing it wrong:

She saw her brother’s dead body when she caught the smell of something rotting, thought it was coming from the fridge, and followed it into the kitchen.

doing it right:

Catching the smell of something rotten wafting from the kitchen—probably from the fridge, she thought—she followed the smell into the kitchen, and saw her brother’s dead body.

Periods are where you stop to process the sentence. Put the dead body at the start of the sentence and by the time you reach the end of the sentence, you’ve piled a whole kitchen and a weird fridge smell on top of it, and THEN you have to process the body, and it’s buried so much it barely has an impact. Put the dead body at the end, and it’s like an emotional exclamation point. Everything’s normal and then BAM, her brother’s dead.

This rule doesn’t just apply to sentences: structuring lists or paragraphs like this, by putting the important info at the end, increases their punch too. It’s why in tropes like Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking or Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick, the odd item out comes at the end of the list.

Subverting this rule can also be used to manipulate reader’s emotional reactions or tell them how shocking they SHOULD find a piece of information in the context of a story. For example, a more conventional sentence that follows this rule:

She opened the pantry door, looking for a jar of grape jelly, but the view of the shelves was blocked by a ghost.

Oh! There’s a ghost! That’s shocking! Probably the character in our sentence doesn’t even care about the jelly anymore because the spirit of a dead person has suddenly appeared inside her pantry, and that’s obviously a much higher priority. But, subvert the rule:

She opened the pantry door, found a ghost blocking her view of the shelves, and couldn’t see past it to where the grape jelly was supposed to be.

Because the ghost is in the middle of the sentence, it’s presented like it’s a mere shelf-blocking pest, and thus less important than the REAL goal of this sentence: the grape jelly. The ghost is diminished, and now you get the impression that the character is probably not too surprised by ghosts in her pantry. Maybe it lives there. Maybe she sees a dozen ghosts a day. In any case, it’s not a big deal. Even though both sentences convey the exact same information, they set up the reader to regard the presence of ghosts very differently in this story.

some things i wish i knew when i started using blender

ive only been using blender for a year and some change, so im still very much a beginner and have a lot to learn. with this in mind, here are some things ive learnt through trial+error and furious googling trying to troubleshoot. i hope i can save someone that furious googling and some time and effort. lastly, im using blender 2.78, so ur version may have slight differences

  • ctrl+J only works in object mode with the cursor in the main window where the mesh is
  • w ea meshes, especially hair, instead of being one vertex w all the edges connected to it, therell be two vertices in the exact same spot. when ur trying to select BOTH of them in order to not have a hole in ur mesh it helps to put the mesh in “transparency”/”view all” mode which u can find in the bottom bar in edit mode with the icon of 2 squares on top of each other. clicking will toggle it on/off
  • the decimate modifier (super handy for making lods) will not work in edit or vertex paint mode
  • the n key will remove and bring back the middle right side bar which often gets in the way of meshing
  • dragging the side windows is also an option if thats not enough space
  • if thats sTILL not enough space for, u can toggle fullscreen mode under view on the bottom bar and get out of it which yikes i struggled w after getting stuck in there, by hovering in the top right corner until the two little arrows appear
  • to get closer than u sometimes otherwise could, select a vertex/edge/face and go to view > view selected
  • when mirroring using ctrl+M, u need to go under mesh > faces > flip normals in order to make the mesh look ,, normal
  • proportional editing is a lifesaver, it basically makes a smooth transition when moving vertices/edges/faces instead of a sharp cut: toggle it on by clicking the round grey circle on the bottom bar and selecting enable. then, after hitting g, s, or r, u need to scale the affected area, which u do by rolling ur mouse wheel up/towards u. itll take a moment to scale bc the default area is so much larger than basically any ea cas mesh
  • if ur mesh isnt importing into s4s its more likely than not an issue w the cut numbers (different ones, not enough, etc.)
  • watch speed meshing videos of ur favourite cc creators, i cannot overstate how helpful it has been watching someone else mesh;
  • and lastly, dont be afraid to ask people questions about how to do a specific thing/how they did something! there are so many nice cc creators in the community whove helped me when i was stuck and given me advice and tips!

Some random tips for blender that are true life savers!

psa: if you (still) wanna download content from simsdom now that they’re blocking those with adblock...

enter the word  cache:  (with the colon) before the url. you’ll be taken to a cached version of the site that doesn’t have the annoying adblock pop up.

iirc, this works with most sites that use google adsense bc google needs to be able to periodically crawl the site. if the cc site is hosted on a blogspot, it absolutely does work. in fact, this is a great way to browse sites (esp news sites) without intrusive ads or messages telling you to take off your adblock

enjoy!

CANDYNATURALS - a tutorial

So... I didn’t intend to share this bc it’s a bit messy to explain, but here’s for the anon that asked!

  1. Open S4S and pick “Add CAS Part Swatch”, then select the hair you want to recolor. IMPORTANT: they must be EA color palette
  2. press ctrl+shift+c, then type studio.exportall
  3. in the created folder (yournameResources), keep the .png files called Swatch_X_Diffuse_1 (X being numbers between 1 and 18), delete all others
  4. Open the textures 1 and 3-10 in GIMP
  5. recolor according to this list (follow hex codes), export your files to  Swatch_X_Diffuse_1 with X being the new CN-swatch number (Tip: keep a copy of the original EA textures 1 and 3-10 somewhere else, just in case)
  6. import candynatural color swatch palette (get from my recolored hair)
  7. press ctrl+shift+c, then type studio.importall

you are free to do anything you want with this palette, but I’d be grateful if you:

  • make add on swatches, not stand alone recolors (to keep CAS clean)
  • link downloads adfly-free and non-profit (mesh and recolor)
  • tag your recolor with #candynaturals so people can easily find as many recolors as possible
  • tag me in your recolors so I can reblog you!

If you have any further questions, just send me an ask :)

Pose tutorial // My little tricks

Ok so first off, this is not a tutorial for beginners. If you’ve never made poses, you will not understand this. I’m assuming you know the basics of blender, making a pose and how to use s4s.

This is just a compilation of a few tricks I’ve developped over the years that have made pose making easier for me and that I haven’t seen in other tutorials (mind you, I haven’t watched all of them so some of this might be repetitive to you, or maybe you already found out a few on your own). And I just want to specify, this is just my methodology, it does not mean it’s the best way to do things, or that doing it another way would be wrong. This is just the most comfortable way for me to make poses.

Here a list of already existing tutorials that I’ve learned from/find useful to know, + some resources:

Now. The rest will be under the cut because… it’s long. Please beware that I’ve never made a tutorial so it might be a complete mess (with way too much rambling). This turned out way bigger than I thought it’d be ajvnlnva. Tell me if there’s anything unclear, and have fun making poses~!!

@maladi777 this might be helpful :D
