16 years ago, Aaliyah released her final album, her baby titled ‘Aaliyah’. I love this album because it shows not her only her growth as a vocalist, but as a mature woman as well and that showcases in a lot of her songs. She could’ve easily crossed over because in songs like WNAR and I Can Be came so effortlessly and it happens to fit the album. I admire and appreciate this album.

“I decided to self title this album Aaliyah and I wanted to do that, because my name is Arabic and it has a beautiful meaning. It means the highest, most exalted one, the best, and I wanted name to really carry the project.
It's different from the last LP's, because I'm older, I am more mature and I think that is very evident on the album, so it really showcases Aaliyah and who she is right now.
