‘ΛΛLIYΛH’ became more than an album to me, it became a soundtrack to some of the most pivotal moments of my life. As I blossomed from a teen to a young woman, this album (the album that as fans we lovingly coined as ‘The Red Album’) was the one I turned to the most. That I referenced the most every time I needed just a little bit more guidance. As I prepared to spread my wings, Aaliyah had already found hers. This album helped me get through her passing more than any other piece of work that she created. I feel as if this was Aaliyah’s gift to us all. And that not only was this album her ‘baby’, it was now ours as well.

Aaliyah gave us all of herself within the beautiful and intricate folds of her artistry. Through every lilting note and through each perfectly timed adlib. Her soothing voice floating gracefully upon each soft stuttering beat, dancing within the hidden layers of her masterpiece. Immortalized forever

Now 15 years later….the sheer genius of this magnificent body of work still continues to amaze me. Still so far ahead of its time, even to this day, it stands as a testament of not only the type of artist Aaliyah was but of the people she chose to work with and have around her. Thank you to the amazing songwriters and producers. You all created magic. And I am confident Aaliyah knew it too ❤️

Thank YOU Aaliyah. For being a leader, never a follower. For taking risks and for standing your ground and doing what you loved and believed in. Thank you for creating such a beautiful body of work that fans for generations to come, can and will appreciate, the way we still do. You continue to inspire us all.

Happy birthday to the influential wonder that is 'ΛΛLIYΛH’. It truly lived up to your name Babygirl. You didn’t just create music, you created ART. And through this art, and our hearts, you will continue to live forever 🌹

Happy 15th Anniversary to Aaliyah’s self titled #RedAlbum which was released on this very day! 🎉👑 To me this album was way ahead of it’s time. You could truly see Aaliyah’s growth into womanhood, and how she was not afraid to experiment with different types of music genres/productions. This explains why to this very day, how this #masterpiece holds a lot of longevity. The fushions from Arabic, salsa, rock, classical, soul to name a few really pushed the boundaries for the R&B genre as a whole, bringing a whole new moden twist to the term ‘neo-soul’. A lot of which paved the way for other female R&B artists to take notes and be inspired by our Queen. Aaliyah was never afraid to try something different and to her, (as well as all those who worked on this album) I thank you for all the hardwork and effort you put into your craft. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about what direction she would of possibly taken her music. All I do know is that her sound would of definitely been striving to achieve originality! 🙏💚#Aaliyah #AaliyahArchives #AaliyahDanaHaughton #AaliyahHaughton #Babygirl #Lili #Liyah #TeamAaliyah #RedAlbum #15Years #15thAnniversary #MyPersonalCollection

Today marks 15 years since Aaliyah blessed us with her final {completed} creation. The self titled album “Aaliyah” was released IN THE US July 17th 2001. Sadly, Aaliyah passed away {along with eight others} August 25th 2001, which caused promotion and further production of the album to be grounded to a halt. The little promotion Aaliyah was able to accomplish in the short period of time caused her album to go double platinum in the US and triple platinum in South Africa. Had Aaliyah still been alive to give it proper promotion, tours etc, we’re all sure the album {and many other singles and music videos that may have been released from the album} would have been far more successful. Unfortunately, we were robbed of ever knowing this. A remastered version of this album was released in the US October 16th 2007 by Blackground Records. — Aaliyah promo poster credit Sabrina Riboulin off her myspace page.
