Triceratops and Magnolia A5 prints now available from my online store CameronBrideoakeArt.bigcartel.com
I am obsessed with magnolias, they feature a lot in my art. The very first flowers to evolve were similar to modern magnolias. Whilst flowering plants have diversified magnificently, magnolias have remained like their ancient forebears, virtually unchanged for 100 million years. Before that, during the early Mesozoic and beyond, there were no flowers. It's so strange to think of a world without flowers, but they are fairly recent phenomenon in the grand scheme of things.🌸🌻🌼
Dragonfly and magnolia flowers drawn without reference today at the @illustratemelbourne meet up. Thanks for a fun afternoon! The first creatures to fly in Earth's skies were similar to modern dragonflies. And magnolia trees were one of the first flowering plants. So this artwork is a little tribute to these entrepreneurs of the natural world.
Colour is so important to this series, so I'm taking some shots with new colour backgrounds.
